Understanding how to keep a packed, neutral spine is essential to creating intra-abdominal pressurization (IAP) and squatting safely, correctly, and efficiently. If you catch yourself deviating from that neutral spine position at any point during the squat (from start to finish), it's important to identify the cause and work to correct that position.
