Do you know what University this is? It was founded by the state legislature on this day in 1701 in the town of Saybrook, but moved to its current location in 1716. This school boasts the oldest college newspaper in the United States, started in 1878. It was also the site of the first intercollegiate baseball game in 1865. In 1861, it became the first U.S. university to award a PhD in Philosophy. Famous graduates include four U.S. presidents, including William Howard Taft, Gerald Ford, George H.W.
