There's not just one road to the destination, but many roads. You just need to take the little step that’s right in front of you, and then the next one, and a few years down the track, they will seem like massive achievements.

I didn’t meet my father until I was 6 years old. My parents had a comfortable, middle-class life in Shanghai, or as close as you could get under communism. But they always wanted to live overseas, and just before I was born, my dad came to Sydney to set things up. I don’t know why, but in the end, my mother and I didn’t join him until I was 6.

因為覺得推文寫太多行讀起來有點吃力，
所以乾脆直接回應這篇。
以下是我對marry這個動詞觀點，
若有其他意見也歡迎指教^^
marry的意思大體而言分為兩種：
字義1. 和誰結婚
字義2. 使誰和誰結婚
在此，為了方便說明，
先引入涉及婚姻關係的兩個人：A和B
字義1. A和B結婚 （A娶B 或 A嫁給B）
直接寫：A marries B 即可
（在此不討論時態，姑且以現在簡單式表示）
如原po所說，不需要介系詞。
例如：She married him yesterday.
字義2. 需引入另一個角色: S
泛指各種「S 使 A 和 B 結婚」的狀況
（例如： S 把 女兒A 許配給 B、
S 為 鄰居A 覓得良人B、
牧師S 幫 A和B 證婚 等等）
句型是： S marries A to B.
(作「證婚」的意思常把A和B合併成 them 或 the couple之類的)
例如：The mother married her daughter to a prick.
(她把她女兒嫁給一個爛人。)
The mayor married many couples.
(市長幫好多對新人證婚。)
我們再試著把 S marries A to B 改成被動語態:
A is married to B by S.
舉凡S不知道是誰、
S不用說也知道是誰、
S不是很重要、
甚至S就是A本人（「反身」的概念）......等等
反正「by S」根本寫不出來或沒有必要寫出來的時候，
就是大家常背的 A be married to B 的片語啦！
(因此，marry的過去分詞married
也可以看作是形容詞。)

(以下動詞暫以第三人稱單數現在時表示)
1. A marries B.
2. S marries A to B.
(S marries them/the couple...)
2.1 A is married to B (by S).

的確是我解釋的時候沒有講清楚，會造成混淆。
marry是 介於 未婚 和 已婚 兩狀態之間，瞬間的動作，
過去分詞married作為形容詞，指動作發生後持續的狀態。
(題外話，用日文している的用法來想，還滿容易理解的)
這點跟break很像，如：
She broke the bag. (動作-弄破袋子，break 及物)
The bag just broke. (動作-袋子破掉，break不及物)
The bag is broken. (狀態-袋子是破的)
The bag is broken because she broke it yesterday.
