In close proximity to the Jeju Folk Village is an area filled with restaurants and eateries. Pyoson Kalguksu is one of the restaurants that left me with the deepest impression. Not because of the restaurant per se but the food itself. It was something very new for me... something that I have not tried before. The Sea Snail Knife Noodles has a very unique broth... cooked from using an enormous amount of Sea Snails and Seaweed. The broth carried a very strong seafood essence... a little overwhelming to the extent that the fish stench at first but fortunately, the actual taste was not as expected. It was very smooth with bold seafood sweetness, the stench was not there at all. The home-made Knife Noodles were slightly al-dente and worked well with the slightly starchy but seafoody broth. Inexpensive price tags and generous serving portions.

This place gets busier in the late evenings as this is one of the local places to get a comfort fix on noodle soup. 19 Hoe Kuantan Road Kopitiam right opposite to the Kuantan Road Wet Market is one of the latest spots for a bowl of Fish Meat Noodle Soup or Curry Mee; the unique selling point is the addition of Seafood to the noodle dishes. Diners get to choose whether to add fresh Fish, Cuttlefish or Prawns; do not expect great and comfortable dining atmosphere but rather, a simple setup right next to the road. Interesting and adventurous flavors, worth checking it out if you are in the vicinity.

The talk of the town- Alive café has taken social media by storm; ever since its kick-off in early 2018, the place has been under the limelight of avid travellers to Hatyai, Thailand. Visit the place later than 7 pm and you will find yourself trouble in getting a table but the best time to visit would be around 6:30 pm for the sunset view. The unique proposition of the place is its close-to-nature and outdoorsy ambiance… with tables being set at tree top, overlooking the greens. Interestingly, the place offers local, authentic Thai delights… ranging from the quintessential Tom Yum Seafood, Mango Salad to Cha Om with Spicy Soup, Thai Laksa etc. Prices are of standard restaurant level… decent quality but extraordinary dining experience with picturesque dining atmosphere.
