As I drove home from work in the super heavy rain right now, I saw drenched motorcyclists under the bridges and in the tunnels waiting for the rain to stop, and I thought to myself, "How must they be feeling, and to be held up by the external circumstance from getting to where they are heading or home, while they spent time then on their phones while waiting."
But then I thought again, that I should be thinking, "How lucky or privileged that these people in cars are still in more relative comfort and making a beeline for where they're going with less disruption." Because then I'd really be trying to put myself in another person's shoes, rather than just speaking or acting from a position of relative privilege or better luck.
To be able to be aware and understand fully where and what position we are in, only then are we able to show true empathy or compassion to the people around us, rather than to act from a position of superiority, pretence or hypocrisy.
Everyone draws different lots at different times, sometimes you're in a better position than another, sometimes you're in a worse position than another, but it takes real heart as it's never easy to put yourself in another person's shoes truly, but to show love and compassion as much as you have the capacity to in your daily life. That said, everyone can and should try to happy and contented in their own lot while always trying to be our better selves. ♥️ #sillylittlemusings #ourepiclittlelives #stilllearning #alwayslearning
Ps: Just using this example of circumstance to reflect some thoughts, but not exactly saying a motorcyclist or a motorist is more privileged than another in that way, because the one in a supposed inferior position can be a happier position or by choice in the first place, if it makes sense and I hope you get what I mean haha. 😉

- Luyện Speaking Part 1 mỗi ngày nào. Chủ đề hôm nay của chúng ta là gì? Crowded Place nhé cả nhà. Thử thách cùng Ms.Quỳnh thôi!
Q: What kind of places are crowded in where you’re living now?
A: I’m living in Hanoi so the city seems to be hectic all the time, especially, the old quarter area - the heart of the city where streets are often jam-packed, and if you take a stroll in this area during the weekend, you’ll be surprised by how large the crowd is.
Q: Do you like crowded place?
A: It depends on what sort of crowded place you’re referring to. I love being in the crowd where people there share the same interests as I do or at least there’s some people that I know like a concert for example. But I don’t enjoy being around lots of strangers, I’ll start to feel extremely overwhelmed and anxious, and I tend to keep myself to myself because of my social awkwardness. Besides it feels very unpleasant when being pushed and shoved in overcrowded places.
Q: When was the last time you were in crowded place?
A: Last month I took a trip to Ha Long, also a major tourist destination in Vietnam. It was only the beginning of the summer but there were thousands of people on the beach which was jaw-dropping. But then I managed to find a good spot to sit on the shore because it was pretty chaotic down the beach.
Q: Do you prefer to go to crowded places or places that have few people?
A: Honestly, I’m always overwhelmed by the daily crunch of urban life, so I would definitely go for tranquil places where I can surround myself with relative silence and a sense of calm.

Hung(alias) 31 years old Nurse
In the middle of the night of November 8th, 2019, Hung and his girlfriend passed by Wai Fung Plaza in Mongkok and stumbled upon a confrontation between citizens and the riot police. The police fired tear gas bombs when the two started to leave. Hung was hit by a bullet case on his head, leaving a three-centimeter long scar.
“I get so mad every time I talk about this incident. It would have been worthwhile if I was injured at the frontline in a protest,” said Hung. At the time, there were riot police on the streets of Mong Kok. The public was yelling and having arguments with them. That made the police angry, so they retaliated. “Nowadays, the riot police use tear gas bombs as bullets,” said Hung. Hung’s girlfriend, a nurse, was crying from fear when he was hit. However, Hung was calm, only worrying about if he would need to cancel their trip for the day after.
Because of his participation in protests and long working hours, Hung hadn’t spent much time with his girlfriend since June. “She is also a pro-democracy supporter so she understands and never complains, but I knew she was upset about me not spending enough time with her. The get-away trip we had planned was considered to be ‘compensation’ for her. We were also taking my future mother-in-law with us. As a girl, I understand she wants company, care, and time from her boyfriend,” said Hung. After getting stitches at the hospital for his wound, Hung went on the trip.
Hung’s girlfriend and his family know that he participates in protests, but they don’t know he is also a “parent” who helps “raise” 9 teenagers. On the protest on August 18th, he was at Harcourt Road after the end of the protest. He heard someone calling for a social worker. A kid was crying and saying he wanted to commit suicide because his parents are pro-establishment supporters. Hung thought he could do something to help. That’s how he became a “parent” and ended up helping more kids.
In addition to providing emotional support, Hung also helps them financially by giving them money. “ ‘Stationery’ is expensive. I always remind them that safety is the first priority. They should leave their gear behind if they need to run. They can always repurchase their gear. These are good kids, and they don’t always accept my offers, so I need to secretly hide money into their gear for them,” said Hung. The ‘stationery’ is actually protective gear like gas masks and filter canisters. Each set costs approximately HK$1,000. “I have a job, so I can afford them. I spent my savings, so it made me feel bad for my girlfriend, as I didn’t tell her exactly how much I had spent on the kids,” said Hung. Until now, Hung had already spent over HK$60,000 to HK$70,000.
Most of the kids Hung helps are from pro-establishment families. Having different political views, these kids don’t get support from their families and are left with no money and no place to stay. Hung thinks if he were born ten years later, he could have been one of these kids. “My father is an extreme Beijing-backed establishment supporter. He has told me to vote for Democratic Alliance for the Betterment (DAB), a pro-Beijing party since I was a kid. Otherwise, he would disown me,” said Hung. Up until the 2016 New Territories East by-election in the Legislative Council, he still voted for DAB’s Chow Ho-ding, Holden. Of course, he didn’t participate in the Umbrella Movement in 2014. He said the previous protests were about the political system, so he might not have felt a major threat to his freedom then. “It took time to implement universal suffrage, and Hong Kong wasn’t ready.” It wasn’t until the government forced the revision of the “Fugitive Offenders Ordinance” that he finally realized, “If the one country two systems could extradite the fugitives, this change would become a breaking point, with everything in line with the mainland China.”
In the November 2019 District Council election, it was Hung’s first time he didn’t vote for the DAB, “Voters voted based on their political stance. I don’t believe the pan-democrats but I don’t want the pro-establishment parties to win either. Although I still feel that in terms of local affairs, the pro-establishment parties had done more,” said Hung, since the bureaucrats are willing to give favors to the pro-establishment parties. For example, a relative of Hung was caught buying illegal cigarettes, he was suspected of reselling them. The Housing Department wanted to take back his public housing unit on the grounds of engaging in illegal activities. Later, it was the district councilor of the pro-establishment party that helped resolve the issue.
Hung and his family live in a tiny public housing unit, which doesn’t allow him to keep all the ‘stationery’ there, so he moved in with his friend. But he never thought about moving in with his girlfriend. “Rent is expensive. If we could afford to move out, we would get married. She is very dependent and needs to be taken care of. We will wait and talk about marriage later until the civil rights protests are over,” said Hung.

Use the Donchian Channel to time your entries, filter high-probability setups and ride massive trends.
SUBSCRIBE: https://bit.ly/2MsGjRR
If you want more actionable trading tips and strategies, go to https://www.tradingwithrayner.com
First and foremost, what is a Donchian Channel? How do I get this indicator on my chart? If you're using TradingView just go down to the Indicator Tab, search for Donchian, and you click this one over here, and here's what you see on your chart, the Donchian Channel. It comes with the default 20-period setting.
Tips for Trading with Donchian Channel #1
The first tip is that you can use Donchian Channel to help you filter for high-probability trading setups. It can help you to trade with the trend. Here's how. Let's say you want to buy with the trend. What you'll do is pay attention to the middle band and where the price is relative to the middle band. If the price is below the middle band, then you look for short trading opportunities. Means you look to sell. If the price is above the middle band, then you look for long trading opportunities, meaning you look to buy. This is a simple filter that will keep you on the right side of the markets more often than not.
Tips for Trading with Donchian Channel #2
The second thing a Donchian Channel can do for you is to help you time your entries. What you can do is you can look to trade the breakdown or the breakup. Can see that over here this candle over here pretty much made a new 20-day low. You can look to short the market, as the price made a new 20-day low. Alternatively, this candle over here made a new 20-day high, so you can look to buy the market as the price makes a new 20-day high. This is only to serve as an entry trigger. This is not a strategy but just an entry trigger.
Tips for Trading with Donchian Channel #3
The third thing a Donchian Channel can do for you is to help you ride massive trends. Here's how it works. You can see, right? Let's say, for example, you are short this market, this crude-oil market. Let's say the market breaks this low over here, this 20-day low, you go short. Let's say your stop-loss; it's above this swing high, let's say you put it somewhere here, one ATR above it, somewhere here. You can trail your stop-loss using this middle band over here. This means if the price doesn't break above the middle band, you will stay short, you will hold onto your short position.
Tips for Trading with Donchian Channel #4
The fourth tip is that the Donchian Channel works very well with the Average-True-Range indicator. Let me pull out this ATR indicator. We'll use the default settings, as well. I don't have to be too fancy on this. I like to look at the weekly chart. The thing that I like to look for is to see low volatility in the markets. I want to see that the ATR value is at multiyear lows. This means that the ATR value over the last two or three years, this is the lowest level. This is what I'm looking for.
If you want to learn more, you can go down to my website TradingWithRayner.com, and scroll down to the bottom, and you can see these two trading guides: The Ultimate Trend Following Guide and The Ultimate Guide to Price-Action Trading. If you want to learn how to ride massive trends in a market, go and download this guide over here, the trend-following guide, because I'll share with you practical trading strategies and techniques to ride massive trends.
If you want to learn more about price-action trading to better time your entries and exits you can download this Ultimate Guide to Price-Action Trading. Both of them are completely free. Just come down to my website, TradingWithRayner.com, click on this blue button, and I'll send it to your email, for free.

time is relative example 在 Rayner Teo Youtube 的精選貼文
Rayner: 00:00 Today, I have a question from Kara who asks, "Hey, Rayner, if I want to use multiple timeframes in my trading, for example, the price is coming to a daily support, how do I use multiple timeframes to better my entry? Should I be looking at a one-minute timeframe, a five minutes timeframe, or the one-hour timeframe?" Here's my take on it when using multiple timeframes. You can think of it like let's say, for example, you're old. You're about 70 years old and you're trying to read the words on the monitor on your screen.
Rayner: 00:33 Okay, and that's pretty small, so what do you do? You get a magnifying glass and you look at the monitor. The magnifying expands the words and it's easier to read because now the font size is larger, but what if you magnify too much? Let's say you magnified to 10 times what it was and the font size expands, huge, so what happens? If you look at that now, the words will appear very large like one huge thing in front of you. You can start to see the individual grain of the pixel, and if you're looking at it, does it make sense? No.
Rayner: 01:11 You pretty much forgot what you're trying to accomplish in the first place because the thing is way too zoomed in, and this is the same as trading. If you're looking at the daily timeframe, for example, the price coming to an area of support and you zoom in down to the one-minute timeframe to better time your entry, it's way too zoomed in just like the magnifying glass example. You can see the individual bar and stuff like that, but it has no relevance to the higher timeframe because you're too zoomed in and whatever data you're looking at is pretty much noise relative to the daily timeframe. So my suggestion is if you want to find a sweet spot where you zoom in enough to see additional information at the same time using the information that is related to the higher timeframe, I suggest using a factor of four to six.
Rayner: 02:01 What I mean by this is that let's say, for example, the daily timeframe ... Price comes into support and you want to better time your entry, you can use an example of a factor of six. One day, you have 24 hours, so a factor of six means that you go down to the four timeframes to better time your entry.
Rayner: 02:27 If you want to use a factor of four, let's say you identify resistance on the four timeframes, so a factor of four would be then you go down to the one-hour timeframe, four hours divided by four which is a factor of four.
Rayner: 02:51 So this is the sweet spot to use multiple timeframes. If you use a factor of 20 or 30, I would say the information is too detailed and it has no relevance to the higher timeframe. With that said, if you want to learn proven trading strategies to get rich slow, head down to my website tradingwithrayner.com and I'll talk to you soon.
