Today was the unofficial last Time Out Kuala Lumpur Comedy Thursday (TOKLCT) show organized by the comedians and #TimeOutKL. Having ran for 8 years, it was the longest running comedy open mic night and the start for many of the comedians you adore today in Malaysia.
I got on stage to perform stand up in 2006 but I will always regard March 2009 as the start of my taking of comedy seriously and #TOKLCT was where it began.
The man celebrated in the middle is Matt Bellotti, the irrefutable MC Matt Sally, a man who believed in us few comedians and together with Mongoose, and TimeOut KL, they supported us by giving us a venue, ample marketing, and even implemented a payment system for us.
TOKLCT is coming to an end for a few really good reasons. Firstly, Matt and his family are migrating to Australia where he'll be working on what he loves: sports & comedy on a much higher level. Most importantly, TOCTKL has succeeded in doing what it wanted to do, to be a platform and a launching pad for the Malaysian stand up comedy scene and no one can dispute that it did not do its job.
Dare I say, Matt's believe and love for us is one of the few reasons the world is taking notice of the Asian comedy scene.
Matt, I love you, and I wish you, Michelle, and the family all the best in Melbourne and I thank you, my family thanks you, and I have nothing but gratitude for what you, Graham Paling, Mongoose, and TimeOut KL have done for me. Thank you for giving me a voice.
Thank you thank you thank you.
One last time, this has been #TimeOutKLComedyThursday!
