Why be a content creator…as a dentist?
Well, here’s my story.
I didn’t have a team back in 2018. I remember setting up a camera at home, talking alone into the lens and trying hard to memorise what I wanted to say. I spent weeks editing ONE. SINGLE. VIDEO. I remember how excited and afraid I was when I posted the first video explaining about teeth whitening.
Not many people were making videos in the health professional field back then. I received a lot of love and support, but also hate and judgements.
Had it been easy?
No.
Did I ever regret it?
Never.
I remember I was attending a dental convention. Tired and weary from days of editing a video while working full-time, I was demotivated by (again) a new hate message I received in my DM.
A dentist came up to me and told me “Thank you”. As I wondered why, he told me a patient went to his clinic in Penang and got her fake veneers removed because she watched my video.
I was So. Damn. Happy.
Yes, me and the patient might never meet in our lifetime. But knowing something I’ve put online, has brought someone knowledge and even changed the person’s life, no matter how little it is, it makes me So. Damn. Happy.
It is never about how much value you’ve created for yourself, but how much value you’ve created for others.
As long as I can bring little positive changes into someone’s life, it’s all worth it.
From day one to this very day, it is all worth it.
