Soon-to-be Mama and Papa of 4. Woohoo!
I had friends who were asking if this was a planned pregnancy as they had assumed we would stop at 3 and frankly speaking, five years since my last pregnancy also feels like an eternity to me at times.
The truth is we had never decided whether we would be stopping there and then, and all along, I've referred to the boy as the thirdborn rather than lastborn. In the back of my mind, I've always wanted more kids (yup, I really ❤ kids ley) yet there was a big part of me that felt like 心有余而力不足 as I wasn't sure if I could handle another since 3 was already a handful.
It took me this long to settle into a comfortable routine and be more confident of doing more. To be honest, I had a feeling I was preggie back in July yet I was still feeling unsure and overwhelmed when I saw the positive sign. "Can I do this? Is this really happening? Are we going to make it?" These were the questions that popped up in my mind.
Being the calm one, the hubby took it all in his stride and was more than excited when I told him the big news. While I was worrying about this and that for the baby and the elder siblings, he was the one who told me "Congrats to us!" which instantly dispelled the worries and made me smile.
A close friend of mine reminded me of the reality when I shared with her about this. "Of course he is happy. He is not the one who has to solo parent the kids nearly 5 days a week. You are." Yup, and I'm still determined to continue doing it without help. But the truth is this man works just as hard for the family while battling out at sea, if not harder than me. He brings home the bacon while I hold the fort at home and we just can't do it without each other.
So today, I am feeling thankful for the positivity he has shown and made me feel since we knew Baby #4 was coming. No doubt the road ahead will not be easy for us but I have faith that it will be a truly rewarding one. It might be one filled with endless late nights, soiled diapers and sibling rivalry but it will also multiply in terms of love, laughter and family bliss.
