selection vs. option
當做一個動作解釋的情況下用 selection
(你/我/他/它) 做了一個 "選擇" (動作,不當動詞用); I made a selection.
option 的選擇,指的是事物細節的多樣性.但是 selection 也可當此解.
(它) 提供多種 "選擇"; It has many options. I like this option.
It has many selections. I like this selection.
choice 的選擇,指的是做出來的決定.
(某件事) 是考慮之後的 "選擇"; This is my choice.
參考以上,要說 "我選了這個東西"
則可以翻成 I've made my choice. 或 I've made my selection.
但不是 I've made my option. (誤)
動詞的 to select, to choose, to opt for 則都是選擇(動詞)的意思
場合不分,因為選擇這個動作就是選擇.
select 跟 choose 通常口語比較常用, to opt for 會在雜誌上看到
說起來有點文鄒鄒,比較正經的感覺
不過其實一樣啦
