This year will mark our 15th year celebrating Valentine’s Day together. Looking back, every year was celebrated in different ways, in different seasons of our lives. We started out by gifting each other really simple but meaningful gifts- me giving him a handmade card filled with lots of poetic love confessions (swipe to view 🙈) and him giving me a simple necklace-earring set from Above (anyone still remembers this shop? It’s still around!). We didn’t have much money in our pockets as young students, so I made cards for many years and he bought me gifts within his student budget range. Nothing fancy, but they were all thoughtful. And we were contented and happy. 15 years on, all I want this year is just some good family time together over a hearty meal, just the 3 of us (before a new member joins us soon!). It really isn’t about the gifts, but the thoughts and heart put into remembering your loved ones on Valentine’s Day, be it your partners or parents, friends and simply just people who matter.
