Bangkok is a foodie’s heaven indeed, from all the delicious Western food you can find down to region-specific Thai dishes. Some of the most popular dishes from Thailand are known to hail from the North East of Thailand, specifically Isaan and Laotian border, where you will find the roots of dishes, such as Som tum or Larb. Some other popular dishes are more region specific such as Khao Soi from the North or Khua Kling Moo Saab from the South, but beside all of this, what if we tell you that there are more delicious gems to uncover in a smaller part of the country, hidden right in front of our eyes!?

Chao Chon, meaning ‘people of Chonburi’ is a home-style restaurant focusing on Chonburi’s specialties. Founded by 3 friends who were born and raised in Chonburi, who wanted to share their childhood memories of enjoying their family’s recipes with fellow foodies. Expect fresh seafood at a very affordable price and don’t miss the dish such as Steamed Chinese Silver Pomfret, a special type of deep sea fish popular around the region due to its soft texture and naturally sweet meat, Stir fried Rice Noodle with Shrimp and Water Mimosa, and Crab Meat Rolls. First let's get to know the Northeastern region first.

Northeast or Northeast
There are over 168,854 square kilometers.
It's about 1 in 3 of Thailand's area.
Which if we compare the northeastern region to country.

Currently, the Northeastern region has an estimated population of 22 million people.
Almost 1 in 3 of the population of Thailand.
Just the northeastern region of Thailand, one sector has the same population as Cambodia and Laos all over the country.

In 2562, the Northeastern region has 100,000 million Baht tourism income, which is proportionate to only 3 % of Thailand's tourism income.

The wealth of the Northeastern people is in 4 provinces which are called ′′ Big Four of Isan
Which consists of
1. Nakhon Ratchasima has an economic size of 296,000 million baht
2. Khon Kaen has economic size equal to 211,200 million Baht.
3. Ubon Ratchathani. Economic size is equal to 124,200 million Baht
4. Udon Thani has an economic size of 111,600 million baht.

I will see that 4 provinces are coming.
There is a combined economic value of over 743,000 million Baht.
Or nearly 50 % of the economic value of the Northeastern region.

Prosperity in the Northeastern region that clusters just a few provinces
cause the problem that follows is
Labor from the province in the northeastern region.
Must travel to work in 4 such wealthy provinces.
And some may move into a job in Bangkok for a better life opportunity.

When this happens, it makes the economy in the overview of the Northeastern region not driven to spread to each area as well.

I’ve got so many pictures to share from my trip to Udon Thani , especially at the Red Lotus lake! Udon Thani is located around the north east of Thailand, for those asking! We had to take a plane from SG to Bangkok, before transiting to another domestic flight to Udon Thani. Tired, but well worth it.

I was thinking of doing another "How much does it cost" style video for Sakon Nakhon, Thailand. However with the lukewarm response of my previous two videos, Pattaya & Bangkok, I thought I would make this a cinematic travel film instead.

My inspiration came from watching Kraig Adams, with slow music and camera movement on one end, disrupt the rhythm then followed by another slow sequence.

I enjoyed making this piece but I must say that I did not shoot this with the intention to make it cinematic. There are quite a bit of footage with did not make it because it just cannot fit in.

It is my second year in film making, which I have only made about 10-15 piece of video. There is so much to learn but more importantly going out and make mistakes is better than not doing at all (fear of making mistakes).
