【朱凱廸突發記者會新聞稿】 － 2016年9月8日
朱凱廸於2016年9月4日立法會新界西直選，以84121票當選，成為候任立法會議員。但他自宣布參選以來，一直收到有人計劃向他及其家人恐嚇。而最近這些威脅愈來愈嚴重，並已對他及其家人生命安全構成威脅。因此，朱凱廸正式向警察報案，要求警方調查及協助，以保障他及家人的安全。
朱凱廸會於今日(2016年9月8日)下午12:30p.m.到灣仔警察總部就此死亡恐嚇報案。
基於此等威脅的性質，朱凱廸已採取適當措施，包括自9月4日起一直未有回家。他亦正在向人身保護專家尋求意見。
朱凱迪亦將會聽從警方意見。他明白傳媒朋友可能想了解更多這些威嚇的細節。但在向警方報案前，他不欲將細節公開，以免阻礙警方調查。當警方告知他可以公開這些細節時，屆時他會告知傳媒。
針對民選立法會議員的威嚇和襲擊會對香港法治產生直接的衝擊。香港警察有責任去保護法治和我們的憲法權利。朱凱迪有信心警察會將本案給予適當的重視。
兩位其他新當選的立法會議員羅冠聰先生與劉小麗小姐將會陪同朱凱迪出席， 以示支持，並表達他們擔憂政治暴力會威脅法治和香港民主發展的關注。

Eddie Chu Hoi Dick, newly elected Legislative Councillor who won the seat for the New Territories West geographic constituency with 84,121 votes on 4 September, 2016 has been receiving threats to himself and his family since his announcement of his candidacy for the LegCo seat. Recently however these threats have escalated and now considered to be credible threats to his life and the lives of his family. He is therefore formally reporting this matter to the Police for investigation and assistance in securing his safety and that of his family.
Eddie Chu will be attending Wanchai Police Headquarters today 8 September, 2016 at 12 30 p.m. to file a formal report to the police about these credible death threats.
Given the nature of these threats Eddie Chu has taken appropriate measures including, not living at his home since 4 September, 2016. He is also taken the step of seeking advice from a close-protection specialist.
He will also be taking the advice of the Police. He appreciates that the press may wish to know details of the threats. But at this time before he has spoken with the Police, he does not wish to make public any details which may hinder police investigation. At such time that the Police advise him that he can make these details known, he will brief the press.
Politically motivated threats of violence against elected representatives of the people is a direct attack on rule of law and democracy. The HK Police is duty bound to uphold the rule of law and our constitutional rights. Eddie Chu is confident that the Police will give this case the appropriate priority that it requires.
Eddie Chu Hoi Dick will be accompanied by the other two newly elected Legislative Councillors, Mr. Nathan Law and Ms. Siu Lai Lau to show their support, and express their concerns about political violence and the threat that this poses to the rule of law and democracy in Hong Kong.
