東京奧運開幕式各國選手完全進場後，第一首演唱的歌曲竟然是五十幾年前曾經深深沈迷過的披頭四合唱團John Lennon約翰藍儂所主唱的“Imagine”，有點意外。 但繼之而想，John Lennon 的出現對五〇、六〇年代的西洋歌曲風格和聲表現產生了翻天覆地的影響。 當年英國BBC 對英國人民作「最喜愛的歌詞」票選，結果Imagine 居冠。 John Lennon 在Imagine 中對人類處境中的國家地域、宗教問題、貪婪飢餓、殺戮罪惡，表達了夢幻似的理想主義，卻也符合奧運四海之內皆兄弟的主題。
