這是爵士吉他手Russell Malone今天早上的發文
應該是很多年輕吉他手的通病（我老了嗎?）
就我的想法，這問題可能有兩種原因
其一是演出用了Jam Session的心態，想要在solo的時候成為全場舞台焦點，甚至是PK掉團員!!!!
另外一個可能是，來錯地方或是找錯團員
爵士樂已經一百年了，已經有非常多不同的風格產生
在剛開始組團的時候，可能大家會想說找個音樂營或是學校認識同學，或是網友；但是練了一陣子可能因為喜歡的音樂風格不同，
像是吉他手喜歡fusion，薩克斯風手喜歡hardbop，雖然都是爵士樂，但是想法確不太一樣。此時就很容易在音樂上出現代溝，或是演出彼此較勁的狀況
so......正確的心態跟明白自己的定位才能夠有好的team work
I recently had an interesting discussion with a young guitarist, which went something like this:
Him: Mr. Malone, when playing with horn players, how do you compete with them?
Me: When you say "compete", what exactly do you mean?
Him: I mean when soloing, sometimes it can be a challenge for a guitarist to match the intensity of a really good saxophonist, or trumpet player?
Me: Well, first thing is to not think of it as having to "compete", or being "challenged". Think along the lines of being engaged. Playing music is not a sport.
Him: Wow! Engaged. I like that.
Me: Horn players have been very influential in this music. That is something that cannot be disputed. We've all taken ideas from them. However, when playing with them, don't try to compete with them.They can do things on their instruments that we will never be able to do, and that's just the truth. But don't let that discourage you. As guitar players, sometimes we have to stay in our lane.
Him: What do you mean?
Me: By that I mean PLAY THE GUITAR! It's a stringed instrument. It is unique and capable of many possibilities, and we can do things that they can't do. If a horn player hires you, they hired you because that's what you do. Even if they have you playing unison figures with them, where you're functioning like another horn, it's still going to sound a certain way, and it still has to come out on the guitar. Just try to blend in, and always put the music first.
Him: Thank you so much, Mr. Malone.
Me: You're welcome, baby. Stay encouraged.
