Fashion was not the only thing about which Monsieur Dior was passionate – music, art and cuisine also represented three hugely important elements in his life. As a music lover, he cultivated a lifelong adoration for the work of Chopin, Debussy, Beethoven and Mozart, naming designs in his Spring-Summer 1950 haute couture collection after the great composers. Similarly, his passion for gourmet cuisine inspired a series of dresses – 'Caramel', 'Chantilly', 'Pain d'Épices', 'Bonbon' – named after some of his favorite treats. And then there was his love of art, which paved the way for his entry to the world of fashion.
