Some BTS shots of a recent documentary production that I was a part of.
It’s been months of learning and absorbing new knowledge, and my humble role in this production gave me the opportunity to put them to use. And when l tell you I have rediscovered my love for filmmaking once again, I really do. The fulfilment I get from creating beautiful images is what I live for. Although small, there was so much foreshadowing! I can’t wait for the many more to come. I promise I will savour every step of this journey. To the new chapter 😌

FPV drones have been around for a while and it still is a difficult equipment to use for filmmaking. But ever since DJI released their new FPV system, beginners like be can jump straight into it.
In this video, I challenged myself to learn this thing in a week, and this is the shot I got.
Yes I have a long way to go, but the DJI FPV drone is an innovative piece that every filmmakers are going to want.

I guess I'm a filmmaker, adventure photographer, storyteller, and content creator...
I'm based in Tokyo, doing freelance video work for both Japanese and international clients.

Thought I'd share some photos and tips from a photo documentary assignment I did at the end of last year. I personally enjoy understanding the thought process behind how other photographers interpret creative briefs and how they go about creating the images based on a situations presented to them. My first solo wedding in awhile. David and Beatrice are a beautiful couple that had their wedding in an equally gorgeous location, Janda Baik in Malaysia. It was a smooth sailing day and hardly any hiccups. Such a treat an honour to film their wedding.

TECHNICAL ASPECT:
This was the first time shooting a full day video shoot with the Canon 1DX Mark iii. Wanted to step away from the whole "cinematic wedding" video and start developing a documentary style of wedding videos and I'm really happy with how everything turned out! Used a 24MM F1.4 ii, 35MM F1.4ii, 100mm F2.8 and 70-200 F2.8.
The whole piece felt much nicer when graded a little softer. Used Film Convert with a Kodak Portra 400 look. The camera performed very well but like all log footage, don't underexpose. Still wasn't fully well versed with the camera so I made some slight mistakes with white balance and exposure on a few shots. Overall very happy with the image quality and usability of the camera!
