With the little one being six months old, it means I've breastfed my babies for a combined period of eight long years. Yup, I don't think I ever imagined that to happen but I am truly thankful and glad that it did.
That's not to say this journey wasn't without hiccups and it did take lots of perseverance along the way. We've had our fair share of cracked nipples (which hurt nearly as much as contractions did and I had to tell myself if I could give birth, I could surely survive this pain), engorgement woes and latching issues, especially for baby Ansel who took me months to train him to latch properly before we got to where we are now. Phew.
August is National Breastfeeding Month and I'd like to look back and thank my lucky stars for being able to have come so far in breastfeeding every of my babies. It's something I deeply cherish and love doing each day because I feel that it helps us to build a special bond, and I have never and will never take this blessing for granted.
My goal is to make it for another two years, at least, or even longer if I can so that I will hit a decade by then and I would have done everything I could to make this precious journey last for as long as possible.
To all fellow breastfeeding mums, let's jia you together and treasure this journey while we can. Never give up! ❤

{IG Giveaway} 3 sets of Marcus & Marcus Silicone Angled Feeding Bottle and Breast Pump to be won!
I like personalised stuff. That is why we are loving these new Marcus & Marcus feeding bottles from ITOTS PTE LTD. Besides being able to choose the animal print we want, of which the siblings chose the cute elephant, the bottles even bear his name too. How lovely!
These PPSU feeding bottles come in 180ml and 300ml, are BPA/phtalate free, safe for UV/steam steriliser and have a double anti-colic system to reduce gas intake. The feeding nipple is made from platinum silicon and feels extra soft. These will definitely come in handy when the baby starts drinking from a bottle or when the siblings request for me to pump so they can feed him.
Talking about pumping, we also tried the Silicone Angled Feeding Bottle and Breast Pump. Using natural suction, it is a convenient way to manually express breastmilk. I tried using it to express leftover breastmilk after a feed and the good thing is I can store and feed using the same bottle. Simply switch it to the nipple for feeding or sealing disc for storing.
Even though I have been latching the baby day in and day out, he took to the bottle right away thanks to the slow flow, soft feeding nipple which is designed in a gradual slope shape to prevent nipple confusion. It's hard to believe that this baby will turn six months in a week and I'm earnestly hoping our breastfeeding journey can go on for a few more years.
To join the giveaway, hop over to my IG @ahappymum for more details.
This giveaway ends on 30 August 2359hrs. It is open to readers residing in Singapore only and is not endorsed by or affiliated with IG in any way. Good luck!

Before the night ends.. here’s sharing more on #worldbreastfeedingweek ❤️
.. It's been over a year with Ellie now, and breastfeeding 🤱 her for as long as I can, committing myself as much as I had with her brothers too. Definitely an enriching and rewarding journey seeing how her brothers benefit from my contribution.
Many of my friends told me how impressed by my determination and I must emphasise that it definitely didn’t come without any struggles. Love to share how we managed to go thru this long nights and all around the clock schedule for the past 6 years…
1. Cuddle and skin contact as much as you can! I’m a self high mama, and I have high level of energy. After Every birth labour I would smell, touch, carry and request for long skin to skin contact moments (As much as Im exhausted from all the pushes, my adrenaline and urge to feed them is higher than being fatigue). Though having ample rest is also very important, make sure you are well-rested too! As all these senses of smell, touch and sight helps in promoting lactation production too! To make it more comfy at home, side latch and cuddle to nap together (be careful when you co-sleep so as not to endanger your baby).
2. Stay hydrated and eat! Yes, feed yourself mama or else how you can get your energy or nutrients to feed your little ones! Drinking up, especially before every feed - mine was warm red date tea, milo and even bbt helped me! All types of Soups, especially those with a lot collagens such as white fungus, pork bones and even peach gums boosted my supply. (Pls check - for peach gums may be too cooling for some)
3. Rest, nap and sleep while you can! No need to explain but you know why. It regenerates your own recovery too. I literally nap as much as my babies, and I do that together, so side latching is definitely my favourite position.

Being a parent, be it for the first time, or your fourth time over, its definitely exciting. But it’s not always sunshine and rainbows.
With my firstborn, Isobel, I was amongst the first of my peers to have a baby and though I seemed prepared for everything including my elective Caesarean, NOONE warned me about breastfeeding.
How is it that breastfeeding is considered the most natural thing, but may not be the easiest for everyone, especially during the first few days after delivery.
So today's LIVESTREAM, to help me with some of the questions I have compiled, we have Dr Nurzarina Rahman, Lactation Counselor & Parentcraft Education Specialist from Klinik Famili Gravidities.
Contest GIVEAWAY:
Stand a chance to win a Pigeon Go Mini Double Electric Breast Pump by answering these questions and posting your answers via my FACEBOOK page (Daphne Iking)
1. The Pigeon Go Mini Breast Pump has won 3 prestigious awards. What are they?
2. According to Dr Zarina in my interview with her, there are a few stuff you can eat or consume to boost your breastmilk supply. What is it?
3.Tell me why you need a Pigeon Go Mini Breast Pump.
I will annouce the winner in my next aLIVE with Daphne Iking LIVESTREAM. All the best!

Travelling with a baby might feel like a whole new world for us, first-time parents. In this chatty vlog, I talked about a few pointers such as:
- Managing a baby on a long-haul flight
- Packing for a trip with a baby
- Adjusting to a different time zone
- Working/Attending fashion week with a baby in tow
- #Breastfeeding and feeding while overseas

I've always had a hard time sleeping so there's not much of a change with baby's arrival. So far I've anticipated my baby being up all night with me but he's been sleeping throughout the night leaving me lonely once again. My husband is definitely having a hard time trying to adjust to changes in the baby's schedule and it's interesting to watch. I do lend a helping hand as a volunteer once in a while. Just to lessen the load off my husbands back. Hopefully he doesn't get too used to it!
