CUỘC THI BLOG MARATHON #BloggedIn - NHÓM 7 : Are you a burden? Five stages to not be one.
Look at the ants. We often see colonies of ants working harmoniously to carry objects hundreds of times bigger than themselves. It seems like each and every ant is helping. But actually, things are a little bit more complex. According to research, ants could have significantly speeded up the process if certain ants did not go astray instead of heading to the same direction. In other words, such ants are the burdens for slowing down the working process of the whole crew. How is this related to human beings? Imagine if our whole society is a group of people trying to achieve a certain goal, and each one of us is tied to others with an intangible, but unbreakable string. Would it be easier to reach that goal without those who refuse to move with the group? So the question is: Are they burdens?
In the time when all nations of ASEAN are working together to search for regional development, and that young people are, in fact, the crucial part in this process, should we be concerned about whether we are one of those drags?
WHAT MAKES US A BURDEN?
Objectively saying, high expectation is what to blame. This kind of pressure arises from the society. We are assigned the mission to become the full-of-potential, high-qualified human resource of the future. Parents and seniors want us to achieve what they have not completed. The society needs us to make contributions. The prejudice is that: better background means better achievement. We are provided with the best condition to thrive, so it is not surprising if the young can live up to the world’s expectation. But what if we fail? I think we all know the answer.
The fact is that the Governments in South East Asia invest massively into the education and training of young people. Facilities and regional forums for the young are organized, governmental scholarships are granted to most worthy students. However, we are not truly encouraged to engage in such opportunities. Many Vietnamese parents would not approve of their children to take part in voluntary activities for fear of neglecting the children’s education. The society generally has not yet aware of the importance in helping the youth to maximize their abilities. This has led to most programs organized by young people have to cease because of the lack of financial support. Still, we are to be blamed for the unmet expectations of the society.
Sure, the society is partially responsible for this problem, but the major reason remains within ourselves: We are indifferent, both in thought and in action. We do not make most of our chances, and we do not grasp the opportunity often enough. We neglect the problems not directly affecting our lives. What is good in that attitude? Many young people wake up every day and just survive in the world that is already there, without asking the fundamental question: Is everything absolutely OK? We are perfectly content with this life to the extent that we do not even bother about improving it.
FIVE STAGES TO NOT BE A BURDEN:
Unfortunately, we cannot singlehandedly change the way the world perceives us in an afternoon. But we can change what becomes of us right this moment. How can we be more helpful – or at least, less burdensome?
This is five stages:
1. Start noticing:
The problem of indifference is all about not noticing. First, we need to figure out the issues the community is facing. Start with these simple questions: How much does your family earn? How much do they have to spend per month? And then the big one: Can you name five latest issues in this week’s newspaper? (not the ‘Kim Kadarshian’ one) If you find difficulty in answering those, you probably have not been noticing enough.
Change that by switching the channel, from Star Movies to the national news channel, ask your parents what is going on, pay attention to your family’s utility bills, etc. In short, care about things other than yourself.
2. Form an opinion:
It is human nature to make an assumption about everything they encounter. There is nothing wrong about being an independent thinker, but you do not want to be an outsider. In fact, if you can sit down and just listen to what others have to say, it can be much more interesting that just follow the voice in your head. So before forming a definite opinion, ask for advices, do some researches – take people’s thoughts into consideration. Try it next time you take part in a conversation and surprise yourself!
3. Set a goal:
Whatever you do, there are too many options to choose from. So without a goal, one may be lost. This is the transitional phase: Turning your opinion into a goal. You can start by asking yourself: What can you do to direct your opinion? A goal can be either hard or easy to achieve. You can set a goal for tomorrow exams, for your hobbies, for your career or even for your country. There are no limitations to what you can achieve. And if you are still lost, you can always follow others’ footsteps.
4. DO IT:
This is a critical step. After the previous three steps, everything is still happening only in your mind. Meanwhile, the world remains the same. So if you give up now, you cannot make any difference whatsoever. Of course, you would stumble and even fall at the beginning of every journey, and that is exactly what is supposed to be. And even if you have no idea how to begin, just look around and see how people did it. Long story short, make your goal come true, no matter at what cost.
5. Repeat the process:
Congratulations! You made it! But the hardest has yet to come. This is the final, yet the most rigorous part of this guidance. It is great to unlock an achievement in your life, but the game always has a next level. Are you going to stop at this point or are you playing on? The further you go in this journey, the more surprising you will find in yourself. And to quote our favorite movie, The Robinsons, ‘Keep moving forward”.
In the society that is linked by an unbreakable string, everyone can be someone else’s burden. As young representatives of the ASEAN countries, we surely hope that each and every one of us will contribute something to the development of this community, starting by not becoming a burden to others. And if you have read all the way to this point, you are half way there! Good luck and see you at the next levels!

He’s been in business for over 20 years and his results are not typical.

Your results are dependent on many factors… including but not limited to your ability to work hard, commit yourself, and do whatever it takes.
Entering any business is going to involve a level of risk as well as massive commitment and action. If you're not willing to accept that, please DO NOT WATCH DAN’S VIDEOS OR SIGN UP FOR ONE OF HIS PROGRAMS.
