Y’all know that feeling of nostalgia when you look back at the photos of your army days? That feeling of should have, could have, would have?
It might not feel like such a long time ago (maybe because of ABTM), but mannn, its actually been 11 years since I ORD-ed.🤣
And now looking back, if I could turn back the clock, I wish I could have done a lot of things better. I wish I was more responsible and accountable for the people under my care, and the armskote duties tasked to me. Of course I can't deny the fact that these "mistakes" I made also shaped me to be who I am today. More than anything else (I hate to admit this - MAN EGO), but I wish I knew how to manage the allowance given to me by SAF like how @joshuatwe did with his.
Call him a miser or prudent or whatever, Josh saved a good 50% of his monthly allowance which at the end of the 2 years, accumulated to a fairly decent amount. As a matter of fact, had I known the power of compound interest back then, surely I wouldn't have spent ALL of my allowance on canteen food and partying. At the end of 2 years, I had ZERO savings and shamelessly drew allowance from my parents while other boys used their army allowance during their uni days.
The message I want to put across to you guys (those who are serving or have yet to serve) is, like it or not, you have to finish your 2 years, so why not make the best out of it. Use these 2 years to think carefully about what you would like to pursue in future, and also if you haven't started saving, no better time to start than now. Take this chance to find out how you can grow your money with compound interest (be it through @singlife’s offerings or ask around your circle of friends or read up online!).
Share with me in the comments below (for those who have ORD-ed), if there is one thing you can change about your time in NS, what would it be? Hear what @joshuatwe13 and @toshrock think too on their Instagram over the next two days! #singlifexcharlie #singapore #singaporearmedforces

Why yes I do like modelling
I originally planned to talk about why I like my job and the positive factors of the industry, but I got a bit sidetracked lol
Asian diaspora is something that's very close to my heart and a topic that my friends and I have constantly discussed between ourselves for years. I think many of us have underlying, unresolved feelings - be it positive or negative - regarding our childhood and parents despite it not being a popular topic in mainstream media.
I hope it doesn't seem like I'm "airing out my (family's) laundry" or so by posting this; I just wish to share with my fellow first gens and Asians that your hardship and feelings are perfectly valid as personally, I felt that a lot of my teenage years were full of undirected anger.
Let me know if there's anything else model or culturally related that you want me to talk about!

Best song while i in lockdown?but sad lyrics ?
If you wait for me
Then, I'll come back to you
On my own
On my own (yeah)
And I say (ayy)
Back in 2012
School bells would send us out at lunch
Talk under the tree about our favorite shows and stupid ones
Parents sat me down one night
Told me that we couldn't stay
Went to bed thinking about you
Woke up on a plane, ayy
Wish I never left
'Cause you took away my breath
You can say that we were young
But, me and you were meant
For eternity, no surgery
Could take you off my heart
Just hang onto my words and we'll make it through this part, yeah
If you wait for me
Then, I'll come back to you
On my own
On my own (ayy)
And I say
I've been waiting for this day to come
It's finally getting closer
On our way to graduate
And then I'll be heading over
You my treasure, I'm your soldier
Stay up 'til the night is over
We talking on the phone
But want your head between my shoulders
Saving up for a ticket on the side
Been a minute of our time
When I see you, I might cry
No lie, that's on my gravestone
Promise me you'll stay close
Days without you, yeah, I hate those
Ayy
If you wait for me
Then, I'll come back to you
On my own
On my own
And I say
If you wait for me
Then, I'll come back to you
On my own
On my own
And I say
Plane ride to your city
Took an Uber to your house, yeah (to your house)
Had to keep it secret from you
Did it unannounced
Doorbell, parents saw me
Sat me down on the couch
Talked to them about my life
They told me they were truly proud
Two knocks, door open
You were standing there with him
So shocked, I don't get it
Can we run it back again?
Room spinning, palms sweaty
But I'm sober
"I've been in love with you forever"
Is what I wish I would have told her

Before anyone says anything, yes, this is an old video. However, the message I wanted to portray is still the same so I wanted to upload it now.
Here's the thing: When I was 18... I didn't know much about life. No one truly ever explained what life after high school was going to be like. They just expected you to know these things and never told you the outcome. The reason I wanted to make this video is so that my fellow young adults don't make the same mistakes that I did. I didn't mention it in the video but GO AFTER YOUR DREAMS! Don't let school and college ruin you. College is a great way to connect and socialize with people, but you can meet numerous friends along the way. Save your money because it will TRULY help you when the first three years of your 20's. Don't give your time away so easily to people just because you're bored or they're bored. Focus on yourself, I mean it. I don't mean study but hone in on your skill set and practice practice practice. Travel when you can but save at least an emergency fund of $1000-$2000. Don't have regrets.
If I were to go back in time, I would finish school just to say I did it. I wouldn't have taken out student loans. I wouldn't have moved out until I was 21. I'd put away 10% of every dollar I earned. I would have continued doing music and my YouTube back then. I just wish I spent more time on myself back then instead of trying so hard to grow up so quickly. I didn't get to enjoy my young years because I was so money hungry and quick to be an "adult". If you're 18, don't do what I did. I know you "hate" being at home and your parents are "annoying". But I grew up away from my parents. I wished I stayed with my relatives at least because it would have prevented me from screwing up at ages 19/20. I'd also save a ton of money from just living at home.
