Last month, I posted an IGTV sharing that we hope for Arielle to improve her Mandarin. We can’t leave everything to the school so we have been putting in more effort at home by speaking in Mandarin while doing activities together.
I grew up speaking more English and by conversing more in Mandarin with Arielle, I’m learning too. Papa Alvin corrects me pretty often 😆
Arielle’s teachers have been very helpful and shared some simple activities that they have done in school which we can do together at home too! @littleskoolhousesg believes in encouraging learning through activities that interest the children. Over the weeks, they have done puppet, paint, float or sink activities in Mandarin and Arielle loves it! The moment I took out a tank of water, she recalled having done it in school! At this age, they are really like a sponge - they absorb so much! Arielle still makes some cute little mistakes here and there, but she has been speaking in short sentences and I love how she politely asked me for my help! 🥰
I was expecting baby steps so that is a big step for me already. We will be reviewing her progress with her teachers next month and I will update you again! ♥️
