What do sexual offenders do what they do? Especially those who do it upon those they are supposed to be protecting? This pains me so.
This is one of the reasons why I sat down to understand Child Law for a semester with Dr Farah Nini in UM 2 years ago was because of the rampant news like this. My two older girls are hitting puberty and Azmi has gently reminded that they need to cover up their modesty and gets very shy when they still prance around naked at home and will walk off with a dramatic sigh - a nuance he does in hope to strike a balance between "you are developing girls now and though I'm your father, it makes me feel uncomfortable" to "embrace, love and respect your growing body as you are beautiful"
There's a reason why there is the surah asking men to lower their gaze when they approach a woman who is not muhrim.
Oh I pray for the two girls. 6 and 9 years old! Sigh.

-- Kurt Thomas was so happy to be staying with the New York Knicks, he almost couldn't miss.
Thomas celebrated the passing of another uneventful trading deadline -- at least for him -- by scoring 21 points on 10-for-11 shooting to lead the New York Knicks past the Philadelphia 76ers 113-101 Thursday night.
"I haven't been moved yet, so I might end up finishing my career here," said Thomas, whose name was mentioned most frequently in pre-deadline trade speculation.
Thomas also grabbed 12 rebounds, and Tim Thomas shot 10-for-14 and scored 27 points for New York.
Philadelphia, which had only eight players in uniform -- none of them named Chris Webber -- was led by Allen Iverson's 29 points. Webber, acquired late Wednesday night from Sacramento, will make his Philadelphia debut Saturday against his old team, the Kings. He did not travel with the Sixers.
Stephon Marbury had 17 points and 12 assists, and Jamal Crawford added 16 points and nine assists for New York, which also was short-handed after trading Nazr Mohammed, Moochie Norris, Vin Baker and Jamison Brewer earlier in the day.
The Knicks outscored Philadelphia 32-22 in the fourth quarter to secure the win. Tim Thomas had 14 points in the final period, going 3-for-3 on 3-pointers, while Kurt Thomas had 12 on 6-for-6 shooting.
"If we play (power forward and center), it's going to be hell on people because we're such good shooters," Tim Thomas said. "It's going to force guys that aren't used to coming out of the paint to have to come out and try and contain us."
Philadelphia, which needed to have eight players in uniform, brought journeyman Jason Lawson to New York in case an extra body was necessary. But Rodney Rogers -- acquired from New Orleans earlier in the day in a three-player trade -- flew to New York aboard Hornets owner George Shinn's private jet and arrived at the arena less than an hour before tipoff, prompting the Sixers to send Lawson home.
Rogers scored just six points in 20 minutes, and he missed a 3-pointer and a layup on Philadelphia's first two possessions of the fourth quarter as the Knicks opened the period with an 8-0 run to take an 89-79 lead.
Philadelphia closed within five before Kurt Thomas hit a pair of corner jumpers, making him 9-for-10 from the field and giving the Knicks a nine-point lead with 6:30 left. Tim Thomas added three 3-pointers over the final 4:20.
"I don't care who is on our basketball team," 76ers coach Jim O'Brien said. "Our team has to make a decision, at some point and time, that we are going to pay the price and be a good defensive basketball team.
"You defend, you win. If you don't, you lose," O'Brien said.
Kurt Thomas started at center and is expected to man that position for the remainder of the regular season.
He spoke with Isiah Thomas on the telephone after the 3 p.m. trade deadline passed, and the Knicks' president reminded him he kept his word by not dealing him away.
"I hear (trade rumors) every year," Kurt Thomas said. "Wouldn't you be interested in what I do out there?"
Game notes
Five members of the International Olympic Committee's selection delegation, who finished a four-day inspection visit to New York earlier in the day, sat front and center on celebrity row -- the best seats in the house. One of the delegates held his hands out when the Knicks' dancers were throwing T-shirts into the stands during the fourth quarter, but he didn't get the freebie. ... Despite their shortage of big men and bodies, the Knicks did not use 7-foot-2 center Bruno Sundov.

Kobe Bryant, often unstoppable, played at a
higher level than even he imagined possible.
The Los Angeles Lakers' star scored a phenomenal 81 points
Sunday night -- the second-highest total in NBA history -- in a
122-104 victory over the Toronto Raptors.
Only Wilt Chamberlain's storied 100-point game nearly 44 years
ago ranks higher.
"Not even in my dreams," Bryant said. "That was something
that just happened. It's tough to explain. It's just one of those
things.
"It really hasn't, like, set in for me. It's about the `W,'
that's why I turned it on. It turned into something special. To sit
here and say I grasp what happened, that would be lying."
The Lakers trailed by as many as 18 points early in the third
quarter, angering Bryant.
"He was ticked off," teammate Lamar Odom said.
When asked what Bryant said at that stage, Odom replied:
"Nothing. That's when it's bad."
Bryant scored 51 points after the Raptors extended a 63-49
halftime lead to 71-53. The Lakers outscored the Raptors 38-14 to
finish the third quarter to go ahead for good.
"That was incredible, remarkable," Odom said.
Bryant, the NBA's leading scorer, left to a standing ovation
with 4.2 seconds remaining, having shot 28-of-46 from the floor,
including 7-of-13 from 3-point range, and 18-of-20 from the foul
line.
With the 18,997 fans at Staples Center chanting "MVP! MVP!"
Bryant made two free throws with 43.4 seconds remaining for his
final points. He scored 27 points in the third quarter, 28 in the
fourth.
"We are on a journey, and to put on a show like this for the
fans here in L.A. is truly something special," Bryant said. "I
grew up in front of these people, and now they are seeing me as an
older, young man."
The 27-year-old Bryant joined the Lakers out of high school, and
is in his 10th NBA season.
Chamberlain scored 100 points for Philadelphia against the New York Knicks at Hershey, Pa., on March 2, 1962, shooting 36-of-63 from the field and 28-of-32 from the foul line while playing all 48 minutes.
Chamberlain had 59 points in the second half -- the only player
with more points in a half than Bryant's 55 after halftime in this
game.
Chamberlain's second-highest total was 78 against the Lakers in
three overtimes on Dec. 8, 1961.
Michael Jordan's career high was 69 points, and only four
players had ever scored more than 70 -- Chamberlain, Elgin Baylor,
David Thompson and David Robinson.
Bryant made it five. His previous career high was 62 points
during a 112-90 victory over Dallas last month -- he sat out the
fourth quarter because of the one-sided nature of the game.
"I was just determined. I was just locked in, tuned into what
was going on out there," Bryant said. "These points tonight
mattered. We needed them. The points I put in the basket were
instrumental. It means a lot more."
Bryant raised his scoring average to an NBA-leading 35.9 points
this season.
"I never imagined I would see history like that," said Devean
George, a teammate of Bryant's with the Lakers for 6½ seasons. "I
can't tell you where that came from. He just kept attacking,
attacking, attacking -- every time he got the ball."
Bryant played nearly 42 minutes, going the entire second half
until being lifted by coach Phil Jackson.
Jackson coached Jordan and the Chicago Bulls to six
championships in the 1990s and the Lakers, with Bryant and
Shaquille O'Neal, to three more titles, from 2000-02.
"That was something to behold," Jackson said. "It was another
level. I've seen some remarkable games, but I've never seen one
like that before."
Baylor held the Lakers' previous franchise record of 71 points
at New York on Nov. 15, 1960. Lakers special assistant Kareem
Abdul-Jabbar, the NBA's all-time leading scorer, saw that game,
too.
"Elgin's game was an incredible performance, also,"
Abdul-Jabbar said. "I don't think there's any comparison. Elgin
did it without 3-point lines. His game was attacking the hoop and
hitting jumpers inside 20 feet. Kobe's range is unreal, and he does
it his way.
"It was a real treat. His ability to shoot from long range and
also attack the hoop, split the defense and get in close for
opportunities near the basket is unique. He's made a niche for
himself, and he deserves it."
