How to Get What you Pray For

“Where do wars and fightings among you come from? Don’t they come from your pleasures that war in your members? You lust, and don’t have. You murder and covet, and can’t obtain. You fight and make war. You don’t have, because you don’t ask. You ask, and don’t receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it for your pleasures. You adulterers and adulteresses, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who lives in us yearns jealously”? But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”” (James‬ ‭4:1-6‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

“This is the boldness which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. And if we know that he listens to us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him.” (1 John‬ ‭5:14-15‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

“All things, whatever you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”” (Matthew‬ ‭21:22‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

“Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it.” (John‬ ‭14:13-14‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Whatever you ask for in prayer that is according to God’s will, you will receive it if you believe.

Why do we disbelieve at times? It could be due to unfamiliarity with God’s word. His will is revealed in His written word.

Another reason is that we feel unworthy to receive good things from God because of some sin in our life. The shame and condemnation produces unbelief.

God knows our motives when we pray. If something is going to harm us, He as a good Father will not give it to us until it is safe.

Just because your two year old child fusses over wanting to play with a knife does not mean that you have to give it to him.

As an adult and responsible parent, you are wiser than him and know that it is not safe.

God is infinitely wiser than us. When we pray, we must also accept that sometimes our intentions may not be pure, and it will harm us if we get what we pray for.

Praise Him. God is good, and He is wise; a generous, gracious, merciful God! He is our beloved Abba Father!

Happy 56th birthday, Singapore! 🇸🇬

We didn't do anything fanciful today but instead stayed home to have an intimate family celebration. It was a day that I needed because truth be told, I am still trying to mend the pieces and move on slowly but surely.

The kids and I woke up to catch the ceremonial parade together and then my parents came over for lunch. We ordered nasi lemak for takeaway and spent the afternoon looking through my childhood pictures and all the pictures of popo that I compiled (I did it over the past few nights when I couldn't sleep). We talked about the past, talked about her final days, I told my parents about my regrets and guilt, we talked about death - something which we have never done so - but not in a morbid way. In fact, I was thankful to find out what they would like us to do for them when the day comes. The topics were heavy, but in a sense, the chats allowed me to process my grief and loss a little better and I know we are all in it together.

My dad and I then took the kids to the playground and bought bubble tea before we headed home to watch Mr Unbelievable and ate a simple steamboat dinner prepared by the hubby. We managed to take this photo before calling it a night because I now realise more than ever on how pictures are priceless and can mean so much to me.

Thank you, Singapore, for giving me this home and family that I love so much. I'm always so proud to be a part of you. ❤

We did it before, and we'll do it again.

睇到眼紅紅嘅英國銀牌訪問

上星期咁啱睇到女子67公斤跆拳道決賽，英國嘅Lauren Williams得到銀牌，傳媒訪問佢同佢嘅父母，佢地嘅價值觀令成長於功利社會嘅我感受好深，

Lauren Williams今年20歲，佢父母只係普通白領，佢四歲開始學跆拳道，七歲就攞少年國際冠軍。到咗十三歲嘅時候，佢父母真係覺得自己個女有天份，但一家人住嘅威爾斯又無更好嘅跆拳道訓練中心。最後佢父母做咗個決定，媽媽辭職負責用住得嘅旅行車同Lauren住响屋企百幾英里以外嘅曼城市郊。爸爸留响威爾斯工作，大女就要同嫲嫲住，即係為咗成就Lauren，一家人要節衣縮食之餘仲要分開住。爸爸接受訪問嘅時候講嘅呢句，

"If a child can be given a chance, who are we to deny them?"

Lauren Williams得到銀牌之後話家人為自己犧牲咗好多，佢同媽媽响旅行車試過連續住咗兩年，

"We would not change anything for the world. These are the moments you sacrifice everything for. I do not have a gold medal but it is an Olympic medal, nonetheless. I am so proud of what I achieved."
（我地唔能夠改變世界，但有啲事係值得犧牲一齊去做。雖然我攞唔到金牌，但呢個（銀牌）仍然係奧運嘅獎牌，得到呢個成就我已經感到好自豪。）

I'm not a nature kinda person but I truly enjoyed it! We did the Signature Rainforest Experience which allowed us to experience The Habitat with a gHabitat Naturalist, Mr Loh, was so nice. He showed us some very interesting plants around The Habitat which I personally would love to have, especially the Tiny Orchid [ Vegas was smelling them in the video] and some other mean plants which can cause one to itch and even turn dumb. Mr. Loh even showed the kids, spiders, Trantulas and other insects which they love. Honestly,the kids loved him! and my job was so much easier with Mr. Loh around. LOL We were lucky to spot a Huge Squirrel, bigger than a cat.

It was my first time on Curtis Crest, the highest viewing point in Penang and I also came to learn about the history of the place. So cool. Heiley's legs was all jelly at Curtin Crest, but she managed to overcome her fear of heights and walked around it. So proud of this little one. I can't wait to visit this place in the evening to view the Sunset. Yes, there is also a Sunset Walk which you can experience. More about that in the comments.

The Signature Rainforest Experience also includes the Flight of Colugo which consist of 5 Ziplines, 1 Abseiling Line and 1 Rope Bridge Walk, both Heiley & Vegas Chan completed it too! I am so proud of them. Mummies & Daddies, if you have ever considered letting your children experience the Zipline I suggest here because all safety measurements were taken and the Zipline Guides looks after the kids like their own.

Overall, it was a great experience and I didn't regret waking up at 6am on a Saturday. Lol. I will surely be back to experience Sunset Walk! If you are not doing anything this weekend, give yourself a treat and enjoy nature at its best at The Habitat Penang Hill.

"Where’s My Hero?” on Spotify NOW!

When writing this song, Jon and I thought about Jo Malone London’s best-of-the-best and how scent is such a personal journey. We each have our own hero Cologne. Of all their winning fragrances, Jon champions “Pomegranate Noir”, while my hero is the iconic “Lime Basil & Mandarin.”
This inspired us to write a song that interprets the journey of finding something we love and adore.

“Where’s My Hero?” tells the tale of a simple love story of a boy and a girl eventually finding their hero.

To mirror the playful and whimsy nature of the song, we needed the music video to be a stop-motion piece. So, we collaborated with Love Limzy Co. who designed and painstakingly handmade each set and prop that you see in the video.

To create the video, we collaborated with our trusted partner again, Cinemakers Studios who we have worked with on “How We First Met” and “On The Way.”

This is our first time doing anything like this, to this scale. The 34-hour shoot was physically and mentally taxing for all of us but the result... ?????. We are very proud of this and hope that you enjoy it as much as we do!
