The U.S. Department of State has updated its Global Travel Advisory Alert (https://travel.state.gov/…/travel-advisory-alert-global-lev…) to Level 4 - Do Not Travel. Additionally, American Citizens abroad are reporting that it is increasingly difficult to return to the United States given significant flight cancellations. The American Institute in Taiwan urges American citizens who plan to return to the United States to do so as soon as possible.

✅Important information for visa applicants regarding novel coronavirus (COVID-19):

As of March 20, AIT has suspended routine immigrant and nonimmigrant visa appointments. AIT is also suspending applications for Interview Waiver. We will resume routine visa services as soon as possible but are unable to provide a specific date at this time. The MRV fee is valid and may be used for a visa application where it was purchased within one year of the date of payment. Due to Typhoon Dujuan, the AIT Taipei office will be closed on Tuesday, September 29, 2015. All appointments are cancelled. All U.S. citizens residing in or visiting Taiwan are urged to monitor local news for the latest safety and weather information. In the event of an emergency, U.S. citizens could call AIT's Taipei office 02-2162-2000.

Rescheduling American Citizen Services Appointments:

We encourage individuals who had American Citizen Services (Taipei office) appointments scheduled for this day to reschedule their appointments online by visiting AIT’s website at http://acs.ait.org.tw/.

If you had an appointment scheduled for Tuesday, September 29 and have proof of emergency travel, you may come to AIT during our regular business hours on the next available business day. However, delays are to be expected.

Rescheduling Immigrant Visa Appointments:

Individuals who had immigrant visa interview appointments scheduled for this day should contact AIT's Immigrant Visa Unit via e-mail at visaiv-ait@state.gov to reschedule.
