//Social media has become as central to free speech as town meeting halls, newspapers and television networks were in prior generations. The internet is the new public square. In recent years, however, Big Tech platforms have become increasingly brazen and shameless in censoring and discriminating against ideas, information and people on social media—banning users, deplatforming organizations, and aggressively blocking the free flow of information on which our democracy depends.//
//No longer are Big Tech giants simply removing specific threats of violence. They are manipulating and controlling the political debate itself. Consider content that was censored in the past year. Big Tech companies banned users from their platforms for publishing evidence that showed the coronavirus emerged from a Chinese lab, which even the corporate media now admits may be true. //
//Perhaps most egregious, in the weeks after the election, Big Tech blocked the social-media accounts of the sitting president. If they can do it to me, they can do it to you—and believe me, they are.//
//Meanwhile, Chinese propagandists and the Iranian dictator spew threats and hateful lies on these platforms with impunity.//
//Democrats in Congress are exploiting this leverage to coerce platforms into censoring their political opponents. In recent years, we have all watched Congress haul Big Tech CEOs before their committees and demand that they censor “false” stories and “disinformation”—labels determined by an army of partisan fact-checkers loyal to the Democrat Party. As the cases of fellow plaintiffs Ms. Horton, Dr. Victory and the Michael family demonstrate, in practice this amounts to suppression of speech that those in power do not like.//
// Big Tech and traditional media entities formed the Trusted News Initiative, which essentially takes instructions from the CDC about what information they need to “combat.” The tech companies are doing the government’s bidding, colluding to censor unapproved ideas.//
//Through these lawsuits, I intend to restore free speech for all Americans—Democrats, Republicans and independents. I will never stop fighting to defend the constitutional rights and sacred liberties of the American people.//

Majority of Americans approve of Biden and his priorities in first 100 days
Approve 認可
Priority
Predecessor 前任
A new CNN Poll finds 53% of Americans approve of the way he is handling the job and say he has had the right priorities, and 59% say he is doing a good job keeping his campaign promises.
Biden earns broad approval for his handling of the defining issue of the last year of American life, the coronavirus pandemic. Overall, 66% approve of his handling of it, up 6 points since early March. He earns near universal approval on the issue from Democrats (97% approve), 65% approval among independents, and 30% approval from Republicans.
The poll suggests Americans are starting to see signs of life in an economy that has been stalled for much of the last year. Most, 54%, say economic conditions are very or somewhat good, up from 43% who felt that way in January. And nearly 6 in 10 say they expect the economy to be in good shape a year from now.
Biden's overall numbers are on the lower end for presidents elected to their first term in office at the 100-day mark, and they are even more sharply divided by party than any of his recent predecessors.

(2:52~3:03)
I pledge to be a President who seeks not to divide, but to unify. Who doesn’t see Red and Blue states, but a United States.
(6:20~7:05)
And to all those who supported us: I am proud of the campaign we built and ran. I am proud of the coalition we put together, the broadest and most diverse coalition in history. Democrats, Republicans and Independents. Progressives, moderates and conservatives. Young and old. Urban, suburban and rural. Gay, straight, transgender. White. Latino. Asian. Native American.
I mean it. Especially for those moments when this campaign was at its lowest ebb— the African American community stood up again for me. They always have my back, and I’ll have yours.
(7:34~7:53)
It’s time to put away the harsh rhetoric, lower the temperature, see each other again, listen to each other again. And to make progress, we have to stop treating our opponents as our enemies. They are not our enemies. They are Americans. They are Americans.
👉 這裡Biden即席地重複了兩次They are Americans.
(9:56~10:17)
That plan (the Biden-Harris COVID plan) will be built on a bedrock of science. It will be constructed out of compassion, empathy, and concern.
I will spare no effort, non, or commitment, to turn this pandemic around.
👉 第兩句話其實真的有當場打臉Trump的意味,”will be built on a bedrock of science”,聽了其實挺過癮的😎
(10:48~11:05)
Refusal of Democrats and Republicans to cooperate with one another is not some mysterious force beyond our control. It’s a decision. It’s a choice we make.
(13:52~14:17)
We’re always looking ahead.
Ahead to an America that’s freer and more just.
Ahead to an America that creates jobs with dignity and respect.
Ahead to an America that cures disease — like cancer and Alzheimers.
Ahead to an America that never leaves anyone behind.
Ahead to an America that never gives up, never gives in.
Ahead to an America that never gives up, never gives in. Never give up, never give in.”

Between the eyes: Umno's bullseye on PAS in Bagan Pinang
Produced by Shufiyan Shukur, Maran Perianen and Indrani Kopal
In seven previous by-elections, the Pakatan Rakyat coalition came out triumphant either fluttering the PAS or PKR banners. In Penanti, Barisan Nasional did not bother contesting and the PKR candidate, Mansor Othman overwhelmed the independents.
The most significant victory however was when Pakatan, under the PAS flag wrestled Kuala Terengganu from Barisan in January this year.
In Bagan Pinang however, Pakatan's winning streak came to an end.
On the October 11 Umno's Isa Samad trounced PAS' state commissioner, Zulkefly Mohd Omar by 5,435 votes.
PAS had acknowledged however, going into the by-election that a win would be an uphill task in the face of a formidable foe in the diminutive but popular form of Isa Samad who had been the state's menteri besar for 20 years.
But perhaps what shocked both the Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat is, one, the extent of the trouncing and two, the shift of non-Malay votes to Barisan Nasional.
