There are many bars in the SoHo district to choose from when you want to catch up with friends but Acquasala is special because it is the complete package. The decor is modelled on the Southern Italian coast and the first thing you notice is the open bar and the open kitchen that gives the entire place a very relaxing feel. They offer a great selection of drinks but it is the food that separates Acquasala from other bars in the area. They definitely don’t just serve your typical “bar food”. To start, I ordered the Warm Octopus Salad (HKD98) which surprised me with its texture and unique combination of flavours. The Smoked, Beet cured Salmon (HKD98) was also pleasant with the beets flavour totally complimenting the savoury nature of the salmon. The “Impossible” Mini Hamburger Sliders (HKD140) were juicy without becoming messy and definitely had the savoury flavours of real beef. The highlight of the night was without doubt the 28-Day Dry Aged Rib Eye (HKD280) that was perfectly seasoned to bring out its character. It was served with some delightfully prepared sliced roast vegetables that gave the entire dish a completeness that must be experienced first hand. The Panna Cotta with Red Wine Poached Pear (HKD88) was also exquisitely prepared with the sweetness of the Panna Cotta nicely balanced with the acidity of the pear. It really was the finest way to complete a wonderful night of great food and great company. Definitely will come back :)
