Gain an insight into the multilayered process behind the creation of a scarf from the Autumn-Winter 2021-2022 on.dior.com/silk-scarves collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri, starting with the immensely detailed hand rendering of the exotic toile de Jouy motif in the House's textile studio. High precision machinery takes over in the next step, weaving the silk twill with 'Christian Dior' signature jacquard borders before the printing can take place, with the edges of the separated panels then being individually rolled and sewn by hand to provide a perfect finish to a timelessly elegant and endlessly versatile accessory.

Painting with fish!

How many of you follow fisherman Taku’s (@outdoorcheflife) YouTube videos? It was Taku’s video on “gyotaku,” a printing method used by 19th century Japanese fishermen for recording the sizes of their catch that inspired me to create my latest piece with fish, ink, and silk.

Here’s the video showing how I did it. The gyotaku process felt like a peaceful ritual to honour the life of the fishes I had laid in front of me. I hope you enjoy the video!
