The ocean has always been my happy place. So many of my best memories are spent by the sea. In my short life I have watched it deteriorate. I remember as a child I would spend hours collecting clams everyday after school at the beach with not a single piece of rubbish or plastic. Now, those clams are no longer there. Our beaches are filled with plastic pollution and the animals that call it their home are vanishing rapidly.
Spreading the word to others and encouraging people to support ocean preservation organizations is so important, not only for me but for my children and theirs. This is not impossible if we act now and together. Say no to single use plastics, use environmentally friendly products that don’t pollute our seas, don’t touch or disturb marine wildlife. I would like to believe that if everyone does their part we can reverse the damage we have done.
Visit La Mer Blue Heart Ocean Protection Exhibition at ifc Mall atrium from 20-23 June for interactive experience with our ocean, and discover what we can do to get involved and help to preserve our precious seas for generations to come.
