【靜物與肖象】

夏丹是18世紀法國著名畫家，他的作品沉實嚴謹。以上作品《The Kitchen Maid》，充分地表現出畫家如何以柔和的光影和顏色，透過一個平凡的房間（可能是廚房或準備食材的地方）和一位女僕，表現出平淡優雅之美。

畫家所處的創作時期，正值洛可可風盛行，但畫家的作品，與強調夢幻奢華的裝飾洛可可風不盡相同。畫家的藝術風格受17世紀尼德蘭畫家和現實主義的影響，一開始以靜物畫，如水果與動物等為主，後來亦開始創作肖象畫，筆下有許多中下層人民生活的場景，有別於當時的主流法國藝術風格。以上作品就表現出畫家的藝術特色與功架，畫中的女僕似是暫時停下手上的工作，雙眼出神凝視着遠處，優雅而安靜，她的神情不哀愁也不狂喜，雖然畫面背景色有點陰暗，但人物的紅色裙子與藍色圍巾，令人物看來更明亮柔和。構圖前景可見蔬果與器具，全都栩栩如生，顏色溫暖，極富質感，襯托女僕那優雅沈靜的姿態，畫家將這一剎那平凡的廚房風景化為靜止的永恆。

夏丹為此畫至少畫了三個版本，其中兩個版本分別在美國與德國，第三幅則已散佚。

In vacation mode. A busy week for earnings, but I hope it will be a week for me to relax.

"There are four main trends underlying the June inflation report. First are the items where prices fell sharply at the start of the pandemic and that are now returning to their pre-pandemic levels. Second are items where prices have temporarily risen above their pre-pandemic levels due to supply constraints and could come down. Third are items where prices are likely settling at a permanently higher level. And fourth are items where price increases have slowed rather than accelerated as a result of the pandemic, at least for now."

"Increases in owners’ equivalent rents—the Labor Department’s estimate of what homeowners would have to pay each month if they were renting their own home—also haven’t rebounded very far."

"Those prices could pick up in the months ahead, Ms. Bostjancic said, in part due to rapid increases in home prices. It takes about 18 months for a rise in real-estate prices to translate into stronger owners’ equivalent rents, she said.

“That’s one of those categories that needs to catch up following the worst of the pandemic,” she said.

That could add to inflation pressures in the coming months. Shelter costs represent almost a third of the basket of goods and services that the department looks at to calculate overall inflation."

目前餐飲業的窘境: 餐飲業在各產業中, 薪資較低. 疫情後, 因有人怕被病毒傳染(因為餐飲業是與人高度接觸的行業之一), 或是轉往薪資較高的產業, 或是想找到生活上的平衡(因為餐飲業時間特殊), 或因為家中有幼孩需要照顧, 所以餐飲業人力資源在疫情後反彈的情況, 不若其他產業. 解法? Technology.

🌻整理了一下最近的一些市場狀態(from WSJ):

1. S&P 500很安靜; 從去年10月後, 就沒有超過5%的修正.
(上次SPY那麼安靜, 是在2017時(那時候的安靜期也比現在長), 接下來在2018就有一個劇烈的修正).

2. Russell 2000盤整了一段時間
-->有可能是之前漲多了(或是投資人在觀望經濟前景?); 財報好的話, 或許能繼續推升(the outsize earnings growth by small-caps is expected to continue throughout the year, with Russell 2000 profits projected to more than quadruple (四倍) from a year earlier in the third quarter, while S&P 500 earnings rise above 25%).

The Russell 2000 traded at the end of June at 17.7 times its projected earnings over the next 12 months, compared with 21.5 times for the Russell 1000 large-cap index, according to BofA Global Research.

Analysts at RBC Capital Markets said in a recent research report that small-cap stocks have tended to outperform large-caps when economic growth is above its long-term average. That is expected to be the case this year and next, but potentially not in 2023, they wrote.

“Small-caps being more sensitive to economic acceleration, as that slows down, I think the relative attractiveness of small-caps will subside a little bit,” said David Joy, chief market strategist at Ameriprise Financial Inc.

3. TINA(there is no alternative to stocks)
因為低利率以及紓困案, 資金充裕, 跑到股市, 但因投資人對經濟前景的不確定性(可能也加上散戶投資人資金充沛), 導致類股輪動劇烈(sharp & swift), 也導致成長股與價值股的正相關性變低(近期兩者是同時在漲)(“You’ve got lots of volatility within the market buy not a lot of volatility of the market.”)

4. 而上周的Fed會議紀錄, 也顯示出官員們開始debate何時要做資金退場的動作.

Fed的動作, 以及接下來的財報季, 會給投資人一個方向. 也要注意labor market(“It hasn’t made enough progress” for the Fed to pull back on stimulus programs”).

5. 目前的一些問題: Delta variant, labor shortage, bottleneck(供應鏈), etc.

【Snuff: The Trend of Snuff Bottles from the Qing Court】Special Exhibition

The National Palace Museum, Taipei holds an extensive collection of the most exquisite snuff bottles from the Qing court. The special exhibition selects snuff bottles from various materials, from the perspective of crafts that include carving, firing, and polishing, to understand the production and the characteristic of an era that delivered from the process. The snuff bottles almost embraced every contemporary crafts technique to celebrate the limited space. From the innovation of techniques to the craftsmanship delivered from varied materials, and along with all narratives shown through its application and appreciation received, we can experience the new realm of art created by snuff bottles from the Qing dynasty.

At the end of 2018, the National Palace Museum (NPM) collaborated with HTC's virtual reality team, VIVE, in organizing a state-of-the-art exhibition in the museum's main building,"A Journey Inside Paintings and Calligraphy- VR Art Exhibition". The exhibition showcases VR installations inspired by three different works of art from the museum's collection. It is also the first ever large-scale VR art exhibition featured in a museum with a permanent ancient Chinese art collection. Through virtual reality technology, we can now enter the extraordinary world of ancient Chinese art and calligraphy, and view the artworks in a new light and in ways never before thought possible.

2018年底，臺灣國立故宮博物院(下簡稱故宮)與HTC宏達電的虛擬實境技術團隊HTC VIVE攜手，在台北故宮正館內舉辦了院史第一次的VR藝術體驗特展，展名為再現傳奇。展覽集結了三個依據不同書畫藏品製作的VR作品同時展出，也是全球中國古美術領域類型博物館首次的大型VR體驗特展。從親身操作書法大家揮毫情境的書法VR:「自敘心境」(唐 懷素《自敘帖》)，到穿越時空，徜徉於濟南山水間的繪畫VR:「神遊幻境」 (元 趙孟頫《鵲華秋色圖》)，將數位書畫藝術帶入了新的紀元。

展廳的設計上，為了讓觀眾能安全地在遊戲範圍內戴著VR頭盔探索畫中世界。展區安排了一對一服務的工作人員隨時在玩家旁協助，並在體驗區加設地毯、幫助玩家判斷安全且正確的體驗區域。本次展廳分成四個VR體驗區以及中央一影片觀賞區。體驗區內容除了上述VR作品，更有2018年VIVE團隊以故宮《清院本清明上河圖》為藍本開發、與故宮共同推出的「清明上河圖系列VR」。玩者能微觀的細細賞玩畫作中的人物、街景、建築、民俗活動，或巨觀的在古畫時代中進行互動遊戲。

在這個展覽中，觀眾能透過繪畫研究以及現代科技，進入難以領會的古代繪畫和書法世界之中，改變了以往人們觀看書畫的方式，並能以前人無法想像的方式參與其中。
