I had the opportunity to fly up to KL for a tasting at Nadodi, a 10-month-old restaurant within walking distance of KLCC, serving South Indian cuisine with a modern culinary flair, and it was AMAZING.
They spoiled us with 15 courses, each one better than the last, and paired the meal with 8 varied cocktails spun up by their in-house mixologist - I was blown away by the flavours!
It is infinitely hard to pick a favourite dish or cocktail, but I’ll try!
I’d probably choose Mile 8, their take on fish head curry, as my favourite dish. Fresh catch of the day cooked to perfection, coupled with fried lemon flat rice and lemon zest, topped with espuma of coconut and tamarind curry - it had such lovely textures and the true authentic flavours still shone through beautifully!
As for the cocktails, Cocktail 3 has a special place in my heart, which is surprising, since I’m not very partial to gin! This is the first gin-based cocktail I’ve really loved - it’s Truffle Fat-washed Gin, served in an eggshell. I did wish it was an ostrich egg instead of a chicken egg, it was so delicious!
They do change their menu every 3 months, so you probably won’t be served the same dishes. But judging by the the amount of heart they put into creating each dish/cocktail, and the quality of this meal I had, I’m sure it’ll be a great meal no matter what.
So if you’re ever in KL, and you’re looking to celebrate a special occasion (whether it’s a date night, wedding anniversary, a new job or just because you’re on holiday), make sure you keep NADODI in mind... I know I will! 🙂
