Young girls in Singapore today grow up in a world that their grandmothers could not have imagined when they themselves were children. Women’s standing in Singapore has improved greatly. But we still need to make more progress in the way men and women treat each other, and the sort of society we want to be. That was why we launched the Conversations on Singapore Women’s Development last year.
This morning, I met virtually with some of the partners and participants involved in this major undertaking, at the closing session of the Conversations.
I talked about three issues which came up repeatedly: equal opportunities at the workplace, caregiver support, and protection for women. They reflect our fundamental values of taking care of one another in society, giving every individual a fair shot at success, and ensuring everyone receives equal protection in Singapore.
All of us must play our part, to enable Singapore women to participate to the full. Together, let us work towards our vision of a fairer, more inclusive society, where our daughters and sons can thrive in a better age.

=================================
--------------------------------------------------
「~する」を表すmakeの使い方(make + a/an + 名詞)
--------------------------------------------------
Make a mistake(ミスをする)
Make a suggestion(提案する)
Make a call(電話する・電話をかける)
Make an effort(努力する)
Make a fuss(大騒ぎする)
Make a silly/funny face(変顔をする)
<例文>
He makes a lot of careless mistakes.
Can I make a suggestion?
I’m going to make a quick call to my office.
I’m making an effort to stay in touch my parents more often.
He always makes a fuss over little things.
Let’s take a selfie. Make a silly face!
Make a plan(計画を立てる)
Make an appointment(アポを取る)
Make a reservation(予約する)
Make a decision (決断する)
<例文>
I’d like to make an appointment for a haircut tomorrow.
I'd like to make a reservation for 2 at 7 tonight.
と “I’m making a steak.”
<例文>
I’ll make you a nice cup of coffee.
I’m going to make some tea. Do you want some?
Make money(お金を稼ぐ)
Make a living(生計を立てる)
Make a profit(利益を得る)
<例文>
How do YouTubers make money?
Apparently, she makes over $5,000 a month on Instagram.
She makes a living as a yoga instructor.
That company made a profit of a million dollars last year.
Make someone happy(幸せな気持ちにさせる)
Make someone angry(怒らせる)
Make someone laugh(笑わせる)
<例文>
My cat makes me happy.
You always make me smile.
He said that? That makes me mad.
That movie made me cry.
Your haircut looks great. It makes you look younger.
例えば、宿題をやりたくない息子に強制的に宿題をさせる場合は「I made my son do his homework.」
<例文>
My boss made me do a speech in front of everyone.
My mom made me study English when I was young.
例えば、「終電に間に合った」は “We made the last train."、もしくはシンプルに「間に合った」と言う場合は “We made it.”、「終電に間に合わなかった」は “We didn’t make the last train.”、もしくはシンプルに “We didn’t make it.”
<例文>
The show is starting in 10 minutes. Do you think we’ll make it?
There’s so much traffic. I don’t think we’re going to make it.
We still have 30 minutes. If we hurry, we’ll make it.
I can’t make it.” 聞くときは “Can you make it?”
<例文>
Can you make it to dinner tonight?
Can you make it to international exchange party tomorrow?
If you can’t make it to the meeting, no worries at all.
“He is going to die.(彼は死んでしまう)”はストレート過ぎる言い方になるため、代わりに“He is not going to make it.(彼は助かりません)”のように表現することがよくあります。
<例文>
Don't worry. We are going to make it.

In recent years, I have given a speech about photography, creation, short video, marketing and belief on campus for several times. Although I’m still not an impressive speaker, I meet great people through the process, so that I keep collecting myself: What am I doing? Why I do this?
Thank Change Maker for inviting Yu-Lin from “Used Shoes Save Lives” and me to share about “crossover” this time. I want to share my experience to push people who are hesitating to step out of the comfort zone.
Many people were crazy about Tokyo Olympics, in addition Lin Yun-Ju played the epic game seven! So many friends asked me if I could record a video……and with a lot of work I got the audio file which was full of “Ding-dong” from the host. Hope you support me and make do with it, haha.
It’s wonderful to have friends like you! I’ll keep going like Olympian!

Finally I had tried to record online. Out of the blue, the quality was acceptable!
Mr. Bigxin decided to quit school before he soon graduated, focusing on social media management. Owning over 5,000 fans within one year, he was invited to give a speech about slides to enterprises and campuses! Recently, he has brought a group of excellent creators together to start an impressive FB group: BXTeam!
One day I recommended the group to Passion, a new youtuber, and then she was surprised that Mr. Bigxin and I were acquainted and said that she wanted to meet Mr. Bigxin because she admired his aesthetic and logical works. Seeing her glowing eyes, I decided to make her dream come true, so I invited her to interview Mr. Bigxin together. After the interview, Passion kept saying that it was her pleasure to take part in the interview because his experience was extremely helpful.
I believe the episode is helpful to people who want to manage social media. Thank Mr. Bigxin for generously sharing his experience of managing social media and finding his way to turn defeat into inspirational stories!
Few days ago, I asked Mr. Bigxin for some tips of making slides. He not only told me his tips but shared a toolkit, which has everything, to me! He’s definitely a creator willing to share~
Still on the fence? Let’s go!
