Black lives matter to me... a lot!
Not only that black lives matter, they matter to me on a very personal level. It’s no overstatement to say that they changed my world! As a musician, I’ll forever be indebted to the musical influences they have on me.. be it jazz, gospel, soul, R&B, or blues...
Nat King Cole taught me how to croon, while Ben Webster and Lester Young’s Sax playing helped me find my singing tone. Lady Day showed me how to express within one’s limits, while Ella inspired me to always challenge my limits. Miles and Herbie reminded me to stay ahead of my time, while Monk and Trane told me the importance of finding your own voice, no matter how eccentric, jagged, or avant-garde it may be. Bird n Diz showed me how to break new ground, while Erroll Garner, Art Tatum, and Oscar Peterson put me back on solid ground. Brother Ray, Sister Aretha and Stevie Wonder showed me how to connect to our human soul, while Mahalia Jackson and Sister Rosetta Tharpe brought me close to the Holy Ghost. Earth, Wind, Fire, Gamble and Huff gave me the ultimate definition of groove, while MJ made me boogie, dance, and move. Father Thomas A Dorsey paved the way for all gospel composers to come, Kirk Franklin demonstrated how to praise the Lord while being a badass, and Andrae Crouch, besides having the biggest influence on my gospel sound, discharged himself from the hospital to make his last official recording with me... literally!!
Yes, Black lives matter, because they shaped my voice, my crafts, my art, and my soul. Black lives matter, because racial inequality is still prevalent. Black lives matter, because all lives matter, but apparently some matter more and some matter less in our distorted world! Say no racism, whatever kind!

When I visited Kuching last October my friend Sereni told me, "Rozz you must check out Pete." Boy was I impressed. A true musician who's not only skilful but also soulful. I've not come across a musician this talented in a LONG time.
Miri - Sarawak Born Pete Kallang dubbed the vocal Prince of Borneo, is best known for his soulful voice and joyful persona. Pete brings fun and joy to the local music scene.
And now he brings fun and joy to KL.
Without a doubt, he is one of the most prolific musical performers to come out of Sarawak in the 21st century. This showcase will see Pete covering many retro hits of 80s by Wham, Duran Duran, Madonna, Whitney Houston, MJ, Lionel Ritchie Elton John and more.
LET'S ALL GIVE HIM A HUGE KL WELCOME! !!

Michael Jordan and Michael Jackson: Two legends who came together for one memorable video.
Last month, the world celebrated the legacy of Michael Jordan with his 50th birthday. But perhaps the coolest off-the-court thing he did in his career, back in the spring of 1992, was forgotten.
That's when Jordan, the biggest athlete on the planet, collaborated with the biggest musical artist, Michael Jackson, for the video to his song "Jam." When it occurred, not only were music videos in their heyday, but also the entertainment world had never seen a cross-over interaction of that magnitude on a global scale. Plus, MJ and MJ had a special ring to it.
At the time, Jordan recalled: "First I said, 'I don't know if I want to do this, because this guy's going to try to get me out there to dance, and that's going to be really embarrassing.' But then I said: 'Well, shoot, it's Michael Jackson. When would you ever get an opportunity to get to know him socially for a little bit, and yet at the same time, get to do his video?' So I changed my mind and went on and did it."
Twenty-one years later, ESPN Playbook has captured exclusively the many behind-the-scenes moments never shared before from Jordan and Jackson's first and only time working together. Here is "Jam" director David Kellogg and producer Phil Rose, who are both still actively working together on commercials, with their vivid memories from the once-in-a-lifetime shoot, which also featured rappers Heavy D and Kris Kross:
