Abstract:
1.Deep Learning based Wireless Resource Allocation
【Abstract】
Judicious resource allocation is critical to mitigating interference, improving network efficiency, and ultimately optimizing wireless network performance. The traditional wisdom is to explicitly formulate resource allocation as an optimization problem and then exploit mathematical programming to solve it to a certain level of optimality. However, as wireless networks become increasingly diverse and complex, such as high-mobility vehicular networks, the current design methodologies face significant challenges and thus call for rethinking of the traditional design philosophy. Meanwhile, deep learning represents a promising alternative due to its remarkable power to leverage data for problem solving. In this talk, I will present our research progress in deep learning based wireless resource allocation. Deep learning can help solve optimization problems for resource allocation or can be directly used for resource allocation. We will first present our research results in using deep learning to solve linear sum assignment problems (LSAP) and reduce the complexity of mixed integer non-linear programming (MINLP), and introduce graph embedding for wireless link scheduling. We will then discuss how to use deep reinforcement learning directly for wireless resource allocation with application in vehicular networks.
2.Deep Learning in Physical Layer Communications
【Abstract】
It has been demonstrated recently that deep learning (DL) has great potentials to break the bottleneck of the conventional communication systems. In this talk, we present our recent work in DL in physical layer communications. DL can improve the performance of each individual (traditional) block in the conventional communication systems or jointly optimize the whole transmitter or receiver. Therefore, we can categorize the applications of DL in physical layer communications into with and without block processing structures. For DL based communication systems with block structures, we present joint channel estimation and signal detection based on a fully connected deep neural network, model-drive DL for signal detection, and some experimental results. For those without block structures, we provide our recent endeavors in developing end-to-end learning communication systems with the help of deep reinforcement learning (DRL) and generative adversarial net (GAN). At the end of the talk, we provide some potential research topics in the area.
3.Machine Learning Interference Management
【Abstract】
In this talk, we discuss how machine learning algorithms can address the performance issues of high-capacity ultra-dense small cells in an environment with dynamical traffic patterns and time-varying channel conditions. We introduce a bi adaptive self-organizing network (Bi-SON) to exploit the power of data-driven resource management in ultra-dense small cells (UDSC). On top of the Bi-SON framework, we further develop an affinity propagation unsupervised learning algorithm to improve energy efficiency and reduce interference of the operator deployed and the plug-and-play small cells, respectively. Finally, we discuss the opportunities and challenges of reinforcement learning and deep reinforcement learning (DRL) in more decentralized, ad-hoc, and autonomous modern networks, such as Internet of things (IoT), vehicle -to-vehicle networks, and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) networks.
Bio:
Dr. Geoffrey Li is a Professor with the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology. He was with AT&T Labs – Research for five years before joining Georgia Tech in 2000. His general research interests include statistical signal processing and machine learning for wireless communications. In these areas, he has published around 500 referred journal and conference papers in addition to over 40 granted patents. His publications have cited by 37,000 times and he has been listed as the World’s Most Influential Scientific Mind, also known as a Highly-Cited Researcher, by Thomson Reuters almost every year since 2001. He has been an IEEE Fellow since 2006. He received 2010 IEEE ComSoc Stephen O. Rice Prize Paper Award, 2013 IEEE VTS James Evans Avant Garde Award, 2014 IEEE VTS Jack Neubauer Memorial Award, 2017 IEEE ComSoc Award for Advances in Communication, and 2017 IEEE SPS Donald G. Fink Overview Paper Award. He also won the 2015 Distinguished Faculty Achievement Award from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Georgia Tech.
Li-Chun Wang (M'96 -- SM'06 -- F'11) received Ph. D. degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, in 1996. From 1996 to 2000, he was with AT&T Laboratories, where he was a Senior Technical Staff Member in the Wireless Communications Research Department. Currently, he is the Chair Professor of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Director of Big Data Research Center of of National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan. Dr. Wang was elected to the IEEE Fellow in 2011 for his contributions to cellular architectures and radio resource management in wireless networks. He was the co-recipients of IEEE Communications Society Asia-Pacific Board Best Award (2015), Y. Z. Hsu Scientific Paper Award (2013), and IEEE Jack Neubauer Best Paper Award (1997). He won the Distinguished Research Award of Ministry of Science and Technology in Taiwan twice (2012 and 2016). He is currently the associate editor of IEEE Transaction on Cognitive Communications and Networks. His current research interests are in the areas of software-defined mobile networks, heterogeneous networks, and data-driven intelligent wireless communications. He holds 23 US patents, and have published over 300 journal and conference papers, and co-edited a book, “Key Technologies for 5G Wireless Systems,” (Cambridge University Press 2017).

《知恩莫忘報》
Do Not Forget The Help Received
(English version below)
多年度眾,吾發現,很多能夠找到吾的客人,原來背後是一位大菩薩在「穿針引線」。
祇要是菩薩安排來的,吾都會有種「非見不可」的感覺,而往往,這些客人也很快就能見到吾,得到吾的協助。見了面後,才知道其實是菩薩給吾的工作,是吾的榮幸,更是菩薩「千處祈求千處應,苦海常做度人舟」的宏願。
所以吾也常告訴這些客人,她他們一定要懂得感恩「南無觀世音菩薩」的慈悲救渡啊!
如果沒有祂,恐怕很多眾生無法從逆境中走出來。祂對我們眾生的貢獻,實在無法用文字來比擬。家家彌陀佛,戶戶觀世音,很多時候我們得到祂的加持與守護,可是我們卻渾然不知。
今天,農曆二月十九日,是「南無大慈大悲觀世音菩薩」的佛辰。百千萬劫中,捨己為她他,尋聲救苦,沒有怨言,菩薩的佛辰當然是個普天同慶的日子。
楞嚴經記載,持誦「南無觀世音菩薩」的聖號,能得十四無畏:苦惱無畏、火難無畏、水難無畏、風難無畏、兵難無畏、鬼難無畏、獄難無畏、盜難無畏、貪欲無畏、瞋恚無畏、愚痴無畏、求男無畏、求女無畏、持名無畏。
在法華經中,釋迦牟尼佛也曾讚歎,此功德不可思議!
南無觀世音菩薩的十二大願中,誓將滅除三惡道。因此能得人身,能聞佛法,皆由菩薩的恩德而來。若輪為畜生,變成雞狗牛羊,如何能供養觀世音菩薩,並向祂懺悔呢?能夠懺悔供養是自身的福德,更是消除累世業障的開始。
普陀山上,天人常向菩薩獻供,修福報恩。我們人更應該仿效天人的精進,及時為自己和家人修福修德。
讀者粉絲們,千萬不要錯過這個息災敬愛增益的好日子啊!

After many years of delivering sentient beings, I have come to realize the reason why many clients are able to contact me. Unknown to us, a great Bodhisattva has been playing the role of our middleman.
Whenever the Bodhisattva sends a client along my way, I would have this uncanny feeling that I must make time to meet this person. More often than not, such clients would quickly be able to make an appointment with me and get my help. After the meeting, I would discover that it is yet another assignment bestowed upon me by the Bodhisattva. I am, of course, flattered for the honour. But truth is, credit goes to the Bodhisattva who answers the thousand prayers from a thousand hearts, while guiding and delivering people, in the ocean of sufferings, over to the shore of enlightenment.
So I often remind these clients that they must show gratitude for the compassionate salvation from Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, commonly known as Kuan Yin Pusa or Goddess of Mercy.
Without Him, many sentient beings would have never been able to walk out from their adversities. The contributions from the Bodhisattva are so great that words cannot suffice. The Chinese saying goes: every family knows the name of Amitabha Buddha, every household worships the Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva. Many a time, we are unaware that we have been receiving protection and blessings from the Bodhisattva all along.
Today, the 19th day of the 2nd lunar month, is the holy birthday of Namo Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva. For hundreds and thousands of kalpas, the Bodhisattva had sacrificed Himself repeatedly for the salvation of sentient beings, listening out for calls of distress and rescuing the suffering ones, with no complaint. It goes without saying that the holy birthday of such a noble Bodhisattva is definitely a day of universal jubilation.
The Śūraṅgama Sūtra states that recitation of the Holy Name of the Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva brings forth the Fourteen Fearlessness Powers - fearlessness from afflictions, fire calamity, water calamity, wind calamity, weapon attacks, evil ghosts, imprisonment, robbery, desires and cravings, anger and hatred, ignorance, wanting a son, wanting a daughter and reciting the Holy Name.
In the Lotus Sutra, Lord Shakyamuni Buddha had also sung praises of the inconceivable merits of reciting the name of Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva.
One of the Twelve Great Vows of Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva is to eradicate the Three Lower Realms. Hence, to be born a human who gets to hear of the Dharma is made possible by the grace and kindness of Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva. If we are born in the animal realm, as chickens, dogs, cows and goats, how can we repent and make offerings to Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva? It is a blessing if we are able to do repentance and offering practices, as that marks the start of eradicating our karmic debts from many past lives.
On the top of Mount Putuo, heavenly beings often descend to make their offerings to Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, to cultivate their fortune and repay their gratitude. We should emulate the diligence of the devas and quickly do the same cultivation of merits and virtues for ourselves and our families.

If you thought being here for #InternationalDawahTrainingProgramme is fun, let me share with you why it is not. Why? Imagine our training here start from 8am until 9-11pm almost everyday. We wake up at 5.45 am. Reach studio before 7.25am for Make up. Monday & Friday is our rest day but we are given homework! Lots of it!!
75 minutes is given for lunch and Solah but we will be called to mini-studios for interview and recording of the reality show. So, in reality our lunch time is very tight. We may reach hotel by midnight, then attend to some personal matters like laundry, shower and everyday we are given assignment to memorize between 12-18 verses of Quran in Arabic with English translation & references.
Imagine, today we need to memorize the name of 114 chapter of the Quran with meaning & chapter number, 40 Quranic verses with Arabic & translation with English & reference (surah name, chapter and verse number), prepare a 5 min speech on the topic of Concept of God in Islam base on Dr. Zakir Naik notes (to be given on peace tv tomorow) and memorize Al-Kabair, the 70 major sins in Islam : in sequence!
The pressure is so great that on the 2nd day of IDTP, one participant left the training. Plus Dr. Zakir Naik no nonsense approach with his tough grilling and questioning... Everyone look so stressful due to this torture.
This is 45 days International Da'wah Training Programme with Dr. Zakir Naik : A JIHAD fi sabeelillah!! They only one that can help us is Allah SWT. Without power and strength from Him, we will not be able to overcome all these difficulties.
Brothers & Sister : The thing that you can do for us is to make doa for all of us here...
May Allah SWT grant all participant good health, sabar and strength to complete this training until the end and make this training beneficial to the Ummah. Ameen.
