草莓（英語：Strawberry/ˈstrɔːbəri/、學名：Fragaria × ananassa），為草莓屬中最常見的栽培之雜交種。也常指其果實。草莓是多年生草本植物，一般存活時間為3年左右。

草莓是薔薇科草莓屬植物中最常見的一雜交種，屬多年生草本植物，親本為原產於北美洲的弗州草莓及來自南美洲智利的智利草莓，後在法國進行雜交繁殖。現在是栽培最廣泛的草莓品種。
八倍體植物，種子發芽期需10-15天。
深紅色圓形或心臟形漿果體，肉純白，萼片和苞片展開。

食用部份是假果，不同於大多數水果由子房發育而成，草莓的果實是由花托發育而成，換言之，我們吃的並不是草莓的果實，而是花托在傳播花粉後變大的部分，真正的草莓果實反倒是布滿草莓表面的眾多小點。

苺はバラ "科" と言いたかったのですが、言い間違えています。
苺はバラではありませんが、バラ科の多年草です。

So you don't have to look it up yourself:
Roses and strawberries share the same family (Rosaceae). The genus and species for strawberries is Fragaria × ananassa, while the genus for roses is Rosa. So whether or not you would agree "strawberries are roses" depends on how you are defining "roses." Jun meant to say that they're in the same family, so he was indeed correct. :D

However, if you're just considering things that are in the same family then you also have to include other fruits like apples, plums, peaches, cherries, apricots, blackberries, and raspberries! But not blueberries. Blueberries belong to the family Ericaceae.
