A coffeeshop along Geylang Lorong 17 has been dishing out authentic assam laksa with yong tau foo since the beginning of this year. For those of you who have been to Ipoh, you have probably tried Assam Laksa at Big Tree Foot (Dai Shu Geok). This place reminded me of Dai Shu Geok. But in a better environment. And best of all, they make their own Lai Fun (濑粉)! ⁣

Lai fun is a short and thick rice noodle that resembles silver needle noodles (or mee tai mak). Jimmy, who came from Ipoh, showed us how he makes the lai fun from scratch. They are best served with Assam laksa, but even the dry version tastes delicious (for those who cannot take the heat). The stall also makes their own yong tau foo to go with the noodles. I am so happy to find this hidden gem in Geylang. Hurry, get your Assam laksa and yong tau foo fix today!⁣

So I find myself needing to do something to take my mind off of recent matters and I returned to... crafting!

I like that once I start this kinda stuff I lose track of time and don't stop, and in this case one moment it's after dinner and the next moment it's morning... What do you like to do when you need to get away mentally?

October is near, and it's my favourite month. And the last day of October is my favourite day.
I don't know why but it's been so since I dunno when... and I've always admired and hoped to own a miniature model village since I was little, but to actually get a miniature display (check out Lemax and Department56!) I would be burning not just a big hole in the wallet but the whole friggin wallet and probably also my corner of the bank. So I figured I could try just making them from scratch, well, from clay... which I don't really know how to use so you'll see that one pencil and one needle and also one little spoon have been harmed in the process.

This air-drying clay would need at least 24 hours to dry completely so I'll have to wait a bit before I can start painting the whole scene. It's not much... but to me it feels like a tiny sort of dream come true
