More than 100,000 Hongkongers have backed a petition urging authorities to make prison conditions more bearable for inmates during summer, calling for provision of cold water and improvement of ventilation.
Response from the authorities was "bureaucratic", said Shiu Ka Chun, leader of prisoners' rights group, 石牆花 Wall-fare.
