Wines Of Ronda SG - 7/12.
In a few words, this is a BIG and RICH chardonnay. Named the "Vineyard in the Clouds", the grapes are grown at 850m above sea-level without any herbicides or pesticides.
The Bottle
Name: Ocho y Medio (meaning 8 and a half)
Type: Sustainable Chardonnay
Vintage: 2017
Winery: Bodega Finca la Estacada
Region: La Mancha, Spain
Special Mention
The baby blue label is fun and creative, making continues reference to the vineyard's altitude. On the back, it reads, " ... defying the limits where the madness of a challenge becomes a walk in the clouds."
The front bears the image of a gentleman in a suit on a bicycle-like machine, riding through the sky while balloons made of grapes power and carry the contraption beyond the clouds.
First Impressions
A completely unoaked Chardonnay as the vinification is done in steel. Fine, clean and perfectly crisp with a streak of sea air blowing right through it, it's a refreshingly different take on the typical Chardonnay.
Nose and Mouth
The hue is straw yellow with aromas of green apple and tropical fruits, which also appear in the mouth. Long wine, round and with a crisp acidity. Would probably go really nicely with smoked or grilled fish seafood, as well as spicy food.
P/S: There will be a night of passion on the 20th of February at El Tardeo! You'll get to dine on amazing Spanish tapas, watch intense flamenco performance AND try wines from Ronda!

I traveled to Trinidad from Santa Clara via Viazul. Arriving Trinidad at around 8 p.m., Yoedys (casa host) arranged this "taxi" to transfer us to his casa.
As Trinidad is full of stone roads and very difficult for bicycle riding, you could imagine how hard it is for the driver to carry us, and of course with our two super heavy luggages, for a ten-minute ride. After the ride, he was covered with sweat.
Indeed, the bicycle was so bumpy that we offered to take off the bicycle and walk by ourselves in the middle of the journey as it is good enough for him to handle our luggages. Out of his professionalism, he friendly rejected our proposal claiming that he has strong legs. At that moment, I was so embarrassed that I promised myself to lose weight after I returned to Hong Kong!
Note 1: Cuba has an interesting culture of "taxi". Anything that could transfer people will be put with a self-made 'taxi' sign and become a taxi. Vehicle type could range from horse carriage, three-wheeled bicycle and classic car.
Note 2: The three-wheeled bicycle in the photo is not our driver, because the street was too dark to shoot the photo.
Note 3: Some three-wheeled bicycle will have a sign 'no hay límite' at the back, a Spanish way to say no limit, ha ha 😂
