【關於洗腦訊息】
Better By You, Better Than Me這首歌是英國前衛搖滾樂團Spooky Tooth 1969年
的作品，不過Judas Priest在1978年專輯Stained Class上的翻唱版較為知名。
這首翻唱作品後來令Judas Priest在1990年涉入著名的「洗腦訊息」訴訟案，
起因是1985年美國內華達州的兩名青少年James Vance和Ray Belknap在酒後以
拿散彈槍舉槍自盡。後者當場死亡，前者送醫搶救後撿回性命，但顏面受到重傷，
臥病在床。
兩名青年的父母於1990年對Judas Priest提出訴訟，指稱他們在Better By You,
Better Than Me中錄製含有自殺暗示的洗腦訊息「Do it（動手）」，導致James和
Ray自殺。
Judas Priest主唱Rob Halford駁斥此說純屬無稽，表明根本沒有這種技術，而且
要是真的有，幹嘛樂團不錄「多買我們的專輯」而要唆使樂迷自殺？
而在1991年的相關紀錄片Dream Deceivers: The Story Behind James Vance Vs.
Judas Priest中，也揭露兩名青年來自不健全的家庭，可能才是自殺的主因。例如
其中James Vance的父親有酗酒問題，並會在酒後毆打家人；然而James的父母毫不
認為兒子自殺一事與此有關，而是完全怪罪在Judas Priest身上。
訴訟最後在缺乏證據的情況下，遭到法官駁回。
本案的特殊之處，在於這是首度有樂團並非因「歌詞暗示自殺」，而是因「歌曲
含有洗腦訊息」遭到控訴。事實上這首歌不少Judas Priest的歌迷都聽過，但也
並未自殺；並且Do it一詞到底意指要做什麼，也非常含糊。整場訴訟十分荒謬，
只能說Judas Priest是流年不利了。
