The American flag at AIT flew at half-staff on March 19-22 by President Biden’s proclamation to honor the victims of the senseless acts of violence perpetrated on March 16 in the Atlanta metropolitan area. Six of the victims were of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) descent, and seven were women. We stand with the affected communities and with everyone who is united against violence and hate. Over the past year, there has been an alarming rise in discrimination and harassment targeting AAPI in the United States. We condemn racism, xenophobia, and intolerance against AAPI communities and violence against women, and support our AAPI friends and colleagues during this difficult time. Everyone deserves to live their lives with safety, dignity, and respect.
