For the past month
I’ve been working on a small quiet space that could possibly help with cleaner recording (warm but noisy neighbourhood)

I name it the ‘Do I Know What I’m Doing?’ project, or... DIKWID hhahahah ok

So this is the most recent part of it

After reading tons of stuff and watching all kinds of tutorials, there are just so many ways to treat a room for sound... but since I’ve only got a small one, I thought of making some of the acoustic panels myself, while decorating the walls with them instead of covering the room with only foams

This is in no way entirely correct, and they’re just for fun. Got some leftover boards from the renovation, ordered the SUPER ITCHY rockwool (the insulation stuff that’s wrapped inside) and some acoustically transparent cloth materials

And so here they are, wonky but hopefully effective, somehow (will fix screws and hooks and hang them up soon)

A tad different from recycling, the upcycling process does not involve the breaking down of materials. Potential wastes are creatively reused and given a brand new meaning.

One of the most familiar things I see repurposed by friends and family is the egg tray. It is for some music enthusiasts a thrifty acoustic sound treatment choice in reducing echo. Meanwhile mom uses them to grow seedlings.

During the previous mco, eggs were only sold in bulk in our area and we’ve still got some empty trays at home. So it’s a good time to upcycle my echo helpers today and give them some colours!

ABOUT EDEN KAI:
With millions of fans around the world, Eden Kai has earned his reputation as being a ukulele and guitar virtuoso, a Pop/R&B vocalist, and an accomplished actor. While many were first introduced to Eden when he joined the cast of Netflix and Fuji Television’s Terrace House: Aloha State, the young star’s success had already been years in the making. The series also featured Eden’s instrumental compositions of “Touch the Sky” and “Feel the Earth.” “Monogatari” was his debut pop vocal single, which he wrote and performed on the show. That music, as well as Eden’s past album releases, can be heard on all major streaming services and is available for purchase on Eden’s official website, www.EdenKai.com.

In addition to working on his own music, Eden has collaborated with some of the world’s top artists and producers, including EXILE and Dream. One of his compositions was used to create “Anuenue,” a hit J-Pop single recorded and released by Dance Earth Party, which landed at #11 on the Oricon Music Charts in Japan.

Eden also recognizes the importance of using his music to help others. He has hosted several ukulele workshops in Honolulu and Japan, been the featured performer at the Waikiki Spam Jam, benefiting the largest non-profit in Hawaii that feeds the needy, and the Hawaii Food and Wine Festival from which proceeds helped local children in the community. Eden has donated proceeds from some of his songs to assist humanitarian causes, including the support of a health center in Haiti and the purchase of educational materials for children in Bangladesh.

ABOUT EDEN KAI:
Very few young talents offer the wide array of diverse skills as those possessed by Eden Kai (aka Yusuke Aizawa).
