I had a manager once back when I was working for P&G. He was a smart and diligent guy, very successful. I asked him one time whether or not I could be as successful as him and take over the branch office one day. Because I came from an engineering background, he said “no, you are going down a different path, to become a plant director--that should be good enough.” I felt dejected, and wanted nothing more than to prove him wrong.

I ended pursuing a PhD in strategic management from VU Amsterdam, in search of accumulating more knowledge in business. This period of my life was extremely tough. Racial discrimination was rampant and money was hard to come by. I took classes in the day, waited tables at night, and even sold bicycles on the side. This one time I went with my wife to a cafe and bought 2 donuts instead of 1. Despite overstretching our shoestring budget, I just felt like it would be a nice gesture after all our struggles; she cried in response.

During this time I was also active in leading the Indonesian Student Association in the Netherlands, and got a unique opportunity to meet an ex finance minister from Indonesia. He mentioned something that I would never forget: in order to have impact, you need to become a decision maker.

I came back to Indonesia in 2018 and briefly dabbled in politics before setting my sights on the world of startups. After a few failed cold starts spanning tourism to wellness, I decided to target a sector that was critical in putting me on my path in the first place--education.

There’s been so many ups and downs. I’ve almost lost track of our near-death experiences. I don’t think I’m the smartest guy in the room, but I’ve always found a way to climb out of tough situations. I’d have to thank my mom for that. She’s always said “the only limitation you have is in your mind.”

A：CABEI (可以讀成「卡貝」) Central American Bank for Economic Integration是美洲最重要的國際開發機構之一，在拉丁美洲地區各國際財金機構中，享有極佳的信用評等。

Q：「卡貝」在台灣設立國家辦事處，又隱含什麼意義呢？
A：CABEI是第一個在台灣設立分支機構的 #政府間國際組織，台灣也是CABEI在中美洲以外設立辦事處的第一個國家。

¡Bienvenida, nueva oficina del #BCIE!

El Banco Centroamericano de Integración Económica (BCIE) ha anunciado el establecimiento de una oficina de representación en Taiwán, según un acuerdo firmado hoy por el presidente ejecutivo del BCIE, Dante Mossi, y el ministro de Finanzas, Jain-Rong Su. El ministro de Relaciones Exteriores, Joseph Wu; el gobernador del Banco Central, Chin-Long Yang; así como el gobernador del BCIE por Honduras y ministro de Finanzas, Marco Midence, se unieron a la reunión virtual para presenciar la firma del acuerdo.

En su discurso, Wu afirmó que el establecimiento de la nueva oficina en Taiwán es muy significativo para ambas partes, ya que el BCIE es la primera organización internacional intergubernamental que establece una sucursal en Taiwán, y además esta es la primera oficina del BCIE que se establecerá fuera de la región centroamericana.

El ministro de Relaciones Exteriores añadió que Taiwán se complace en actuar como un socio constructivo en la expansión de las operaciones de dicho banco en la región #AsiaPacífico.

Además, Mossi afirmó que la nueva oficina permitirá al banco fortalecer sus vínculos con diferentes socios en la región y promover mayores lazos comerciales, mientras que Midence elogió las contribuciones técnicas y financieras de Taiwán al desarrollo económico y social de #Honduras, las cuales son un testimonio de la firme amistad entre los dos países.

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration has announced that it will set up a Country Office in Taiwan, according to an agreement signed today by #CABEI Executive President Dante Mossi and Minister of Finance Jain-Rong Su. MOFA Minister Joseph Wu, Central Bank Governor Chin-Long Yang and the chair of CABEI’s Board of Governors, Honduran Finance Minister Marco Midence joined the virtual meeting to witness the signing.

In his address Minister Wu highlighted that the establishment of the office in Taiwan is of great importance in that it achieves two “firsts”: CABEI is the first intergovernmental organization to set up a branch office in Taiwan, and Taiwan is also the first country outside of Central America in which CABEI will set up an office. He added that Taiwan is thrilled to be a constructive partner for the bank to expand operations into the #AsiaPacific region.

Executive President Mossi stated that the establishment of the office signals growing ties between CABEI and Taiwan and will attract resources, investment, and knowledge to Central America, while Minister Midence praised Taiwan’s technical and financial contributions to the economic and social development of #Honduras, testament to the firm friendship between the two countries.

แต่จะได้เป็นความรู้ในฐานข้อมูล (Knowledge Discovery in Database - KDD)
ซึ่งก็คือ รูปแบบ (pattern) และความสัมพันธ์ (associations) ที่แอบซ่อนอยู่ในชุดข้อมูลนั้นๆ

หลัก ๆ ก็วิชา -> Machine Learning(สาขาหนึ่งของวิชา AI) + วิชาสถิติ + ฐานข้อมูล

สำหรับประโยชน์ของ Data mining
ทำให้การค้นหาความรู้จากข้อมูล
มันอิจฉริยะขึ้นครับ ไม่ต้องทำมือเอง
แต่ใช้คอมทำให้อัตโนมัติ ซึ่งจะมีประโยชน์มาก ๆ ตัวอย่าง เช่น

-ใช้จัดระดับความเสี่ยงของผู้ขอเครดิต เป็นระดับต่ำ กลาง และสูง
-ทำนายพฤติกรรมการซื้อสินค้า ว่าลูกค้าจะหยิบอะไรใส่รถเข็น
-หาความเสี่ยงของผู้ป่วยเป็นโรงมะเร็ง จากผู้ติดเชื้อไวรัสโคโรน่า
-หาเนื้อคู่เรา (อันนี้ล้อเล่นนะ ไม่รู้ว่ามีใครสนใจทำจริงเปล่า อิ ๆ ๆ)
และประโยชน์อื่น ๆ อีกเยอะมาก เป็นต้น

ไม่เหมือน Data Science ซึ่งจะรู้จักมากกว่าในยุคนี้

Hi guys,

Teaching has come to me when I realize that a great deal of Vietnamese students are still struggling studying English. That I was very bad at English stimulates me to become an inspirational teacher at IELTS Fighters education system.

I used to have 5.5/10.0 for English at high school, for me, at that time, it was not a big deal. However, growing up with a more realistic perspective, I strongly believed that not only myself but also most students have found the essential of English. That is what promoted me to study English above and beyond what I have.

IELTS Fighter and I cooperated by chance. Firstly, I was assigned to be in charge for several TOEIC classes by the cutest superior in the world - Ms. Loan Hoang. Gradually, I thought that I would be even more productive if I teach IELTS, too.

Teaching has brought me a lot of fun. I could never forget smiling faces of students or the times we together conquered English barriers. Every time my students tell me that achieved a remarkable height for their test, it appears to me that all my dedication pays off. Up to date, almost no one of my students cannot overcome such ordinary English test since we have practiced and perceived more than what the test needs.

Teaching is an interesting field that one needs to practice at least once in life. To me, it is and will always be the way I choose to transfer my knowledge to youngsters.
